Spied an Armand Swenson built Gold Cup on Rock Island. They had it listed as a regular Colt and I guess no one but me saw that special little marking on the frame. Saved me about $3k.
I built a 6 ARC bolt gun for my kids to hunt with- they’ve piled up deer with it. I’m handloading to take advantage of the 62k psi limit: 90gr CX @ 2988 fps. Slick little cartridge.
Either will be fine but the 7mm would be my choice. My primary elk rifle for the past 10 or so years has been an Echols Rifles 7mm Remington Magnum throated for 175gr bullets so it’s pretty close to the PRC performance-wise.

Could not disagree more on this. The Partition, particularly the 200gr .30 caliber, is one of the most proven-reliable game bullets ever devised. I’d far prefer a Partition over the Accubond for plains game.

Honestly, it’s pretty comfortable. I thought that the rigid back might dig in but I had enough layers on that it wasn’t a problem. Might be less comfortable in a T-shirt. So far I’ve only used it on one backcountry hunt but I basically forgot that I had it on.

I don't put much stock in energy but, if it works for you, have at it. Impact velocity is an absolute must if we want the bullet to do its job. All of that said, closer is always better. I don't remember my furthest shot but I sure as hell remember the close ones.
