Built up enough points to hit Wyoming for antelope this fall. Fucking pumped. That being said, I’ve never been out west and googling outfitters seems like hit or miss. Any recommendations ? (Applied for zone 2, 26, 28)

In Wyoming I would aim for one that has good access to private ranches. In the zones you mentioned it would be Tyler Sims or Best of the West. Pronghorn hunting is a good western hunt for the first time. Just glass up until you find a herd and see if there is an animal you would like to take and then get to work.

How many points do you have?

Area 2 has almost no public land access so you would 100% need an outfitter as all the antwlope are on private land.

Just an FYI you technically only put in for 2, second and third choice is only when there are leftover tags which doesnt happen for non residents and very rarely residents.

You can also change your application up until the day before the deadline. You'll want to line up an outfitter first before you decide 100% on a unit.

If you have a good amount of points a DIY hunt is very easy.

I have 6 points which is 100% draw in the majority of zones. I’m coming from the east coast with zero western experience so an outfitter is pretty much my only choice.

6 points doesnt get you into the great units but if you're willing to hire an outfitter you can get a pretty decent hunt on private land.

I highly reccomend calling Fonzy at Four Horse Outfitters asap 307-689-2865 if he has openings he's probably going to have you switch units in the draw while you still can.

Thanks for the recommendation !

Great first western hunt and one I still enjoy doing to this day almost more than anything else out west
Im pumped as hell. With kid #2 en route this fall, I figured if I don’t do it now, it’s gonna be awhile til I can get out there.
