I need to scratch the itch while I’m waiting on the Q MegaFix to be released. Looking at the Weatherby 307 in either 7bc or 7 PCR. Anyone have any experience with the 7 bc? How does it compare to 7 PRC?

I had a Seekins element with a 20" barrel and was pretty disappointed. I have recently bought a HCR with a 16" barrel and love it. In my opinion it is the best option to carry expansion velocities to 800 yards with a 16" barrel. Compared to a 7PRC is shines with a short barrel. I sold the Seekins because with a 20" barrel there was no meaningful performance difference and the ammo availability and cost favored the other 7mm's. The factory 7BC guns seem to be regarded as finicky, not dissimilar to the 28 Nosler. There have also been some significant QC issues with Federal's ammo, to the point that two of the original program developers paused manufacturing rifles until Federal fixed the issues. Hope that helps.

You should really consider a Savage in 7BC. They offer all different price points for 7BC and I would take them over the Weatherby. For the higher price points like the 307s, look at the Ultralight Elite.

Thanks Ron! I’ll look into the Ultralight Elite.

Thanks for the info. Wasn’t aware of the QC issues.
