@Jason Vincent , I just read Sam Johnston's "The Duality of Silence," and damn. This is more than "an article."

I wish I could comment on it the same way I can with the online articles in the Article Vault. I also understand that the situation is different-- you don't want to print the magazine article online because that defeats the purpose of the printed magazine, but maybe give us the option of a thread in the article vault, minus the article, itself? Or a thread header with one photo and an excerpt to encourage folks who belong to The Society but don't have a subscription to get a subscription. Maybe a "Magazine Vault" to go along with the online vault?

If I may add, as well, I earned a degree in English literature and creative writing with an emphasis in screenwriting, but I later went into education as a profession while continuing to piddle in writing on the side. Over the past 5-10 years, I've gradually kind of stopped reading. The same is true of going to the movies. Nowadays, the writing and film industry just makes me sad, not only because it's crap but also because it's controlled by people I don't want to venerate.

When I read something like "The Duality of Silence," it reminds me that my kind of writers still do exist: "The woods are quiet in a way that doesn't raise my pulse. Occasionaly, squirrels chatter. An owl finishes his night shift somewhere behind me. The stretches of silence here aren't empty, they're full. Heavy with life." Field Ethos allows me to want to participate again, like I did as a teenager when I could read Steinbeck and Hemingway for the first time.

May we have a place to celebrate the magazine articles, please?
