Who was the best Bond? Connery? Brosnan? Craig? Lazenby? And what do you think is the best Bond movie of all time?

I’ll start. Daniel Craig and Skyfall. I’ve read all the Bond books and I think Craig portrays Ian Fleming’s Bond the most true tonthe books. Brooding, mysogynistic, suave, deadly. Along those lines, Skyfall captures all of the elements of Bond movies. It has strong ties to the earlier movies, including the Aston, a great casino scene, a not and sultry Bond girl, and a great villain.

What say you FES?

It’s hard to beat Goldeneye for me. It’s the one that got me into the franchise. The P99 is perfect. DB5 is perfect. Both girls are baddies. The video game is my favorite game of all time. Definitely Goldeneye.

Respect. That was one of the best for sure

I coincidentally just rewatched them all.. I grew up on the original Sean Connery Bond movies, so anything else just seems like imposters, LoL.. I do like Daniel Craig and would agree that Skyfall is probably one of the best.. but Sean Connery and Pussy Galore ranks in the top for me..

That is hard as I also grew up with Sean Connery while watching it with my dad. But Craig definitely modernized the Bon franchise and brought it into the modern era and of them all Sky Fall is probably the best.

BTW it was surrealistic rewatching No Time time to Die after we "allegedly" hunted the same location in Jamaica

Grew up on Roger Moore, but Daniel Craig is my favourite Bond. I like the more gritty character they made him into.
Quantum of Solace is favourite movie mostly because of Olga Kurylenko the Bond girl in it.

I am going to confirm some DOPE here, but give more granularity so we can get out of the groove of everyone saying “Howard Johnson is right”.

Stack rank the Bond actors and their best film:

1. Daniel Craig - “SkyFall” for sure, but “Casino Royale” a very, very close second - which is ironic, as the television show Casino Royale was a spin off of Bond and would open this entire debate further with other names.

2. Sean Connery - “Goldfinger” was his best, just a priceless piece for the time

3. George Lazenby - “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” - he had some real promise, but only did one film, way better than most

4. Piece Brosnan - “Goldeneye” was his best, and yes the entire BMW thing was sacrilegious, etc.

5. Timothy Dalton - “License to Kill”, all day and twice on Tuesday over “Living Daylights” - he was solid, but not my favorite

6. Roger Moore - “The Spy Who Loved Me” was his best, but he was all playboy, panty wasted and not brutal enough to fit the image of Bond for me.

Now the $64 bonus round question: who will be next, and where will they stack rank? Is there anyone who could make it in to the top 3?

I think the franchise is done with Amazon taking it over. They will try but Im not sure it survives.

I have to go with Connery. Dr No for me. Nothing like a little Ursula Andress with a knife on the hip. Granted Thunderball was a close tie for me.

I 100% agree with everything you said.

My fear is that now that Amazon owns the rights to the Bond movies, they're gonna go all DEI on us and have a handicapped, trans person of color. Ok, maybe not that bad, but I could see them putting a woman in the role. Which, to be clear, I think would suck

One person I have seen mentioned who I think would be really good is Idris Elba. He's British and gritty enough and a damn good actor

I don't think that they will do anymore Bond movies.. and I don't know that they should.. at some point it becomes like RAMBO 56, or ROCKY 23...
If they did make another one... Jason Statham would get my vote, or Tom Hardy anyone but Tom "Mission Impossible 38" Cruise..

In case you are wondering I hate remakes 😂

You're not wrong. With the ending of "No Time to Die," this would be a prefect time to put the series to rest

Love the Tom Hardy call out @Al "Shifty" Schultz - I think he may be a tad old, but he would be amazing, right up there with Jason Stratham or Idris, the latter of which was rumored a few years ago.

Tom Hardy in Mobland is off the hook good.

Daniel Craig for me.

I never grew up really into/watching Bond, but Craig's Bond connected with me deeply. It coincided nearly perfectly with the years I was in the Army, and I was also in the UK the year Skyfall came out. So, the timing, for me, is "special."

I also felt he was more "real" than the other Bonds. Yes, it is still Hollywood, but the way he would solve problems and work... there was a gritty reality to it that really portrayed a man that was human and was really "in the fight." I also loved his general character arc just as much as I loved the "action."

If you sit down and watch the entire Craig Bond lineup in a marathon, I think the sum is greater than the individual parts, and it really shines.

In terms of who is next, I think there were/are strong rumors that Aaron Taylor-Johnson is the next Bond.

I am obviously not "in the know"... but I had a conversation with some folks at Omega on this very topic. For those that aren't aware, Omega has its own full partnership with the Bond franchise. Since the partnership was established, they have only given their "global" brand ambassador contract to the actor who plays Bond. Their traditional brand contracts are usually only signed on a country by country basis - but Bond breaks that mold by being a truly "global brand." They recently awarded/signed the full global ambassador contract with Aaron Taylor-Johnson - and there were people I spoke to at Omega that felt that was pretty strong evidence that he may be next, as Taylor-Johnson would never have really gotten that specific type of contract on "his own" without the Bond choice. Also, it is usually a norm for the current Bond Omega model to be discontinued right as a new Bond is about to enter the scene with his "own" model... so, weirdly, the watch may be the canary in the coal mine in terms of both announcement timing and choice.
