Born and raised in Upstate South Carolina. Married to a real estate attorney who convinced me to come work with her as a title insurance agent. We operate a small law office for our town, mainly focusing on real estate and estate planning. Prior to that I worked 5 years for the local natural gas utility company installing anything that would burn natural gas.

We have 4 children who are 4, 3, almost 2, and 4 months. They all love to go pond fishing and anything that requires riding the Kawasaki Mule. We are blessed to live and hunt on the family farm that is just shy of 270 acres. My free time is mostly spent raising kids, serving our church as a deacon, or taking the family camping.

I’m not sure how I came across FE, but once I subscribed to the print journal I was hooked. Proud to be a FES member and look forward to crossing paths with you nerds down the road.

Welcome aboard! Sounds like a little slice of heaven you have down there in SC.

I was surprised to hear JV was from SC and that @Tony Caggiano can cook our state dish so well. I’m a sucker for shrimp and grits. Didn’t Charlie do some work in Charleston?
I'm actually from SC - Columbia and more recently, Charleston. I lived on Folly and then on James Island but worked in Satan's Anus aka North Charleston. @Ron Dan and I actually met when I arrested him without any probable cause.

We have some friends that live on Lake Murray. Anytime we travel to the coast I always wish there was a way to bypass Columbia mainly because of the exit coming off of I26 getting onto I20. I normally stop at Rush’s for a burger if I’m down that way.

And your description is 100% accurate of North Charleston. The only place hotter in the state may be Lexington which I affectionally call the Armpit of the South.

My grandparents lived on Lake Murray my whole life. I spent the equivalent of weeks on and under that water. Great place.
Rush's is awesome.
My negative reference to North Charleston comes from being a detective there for nearly 12 years. There was no shortage of violent crime. Good for business if you're in law enforcement. Bad for quality of life if you're a decent human anywhere in the area.
