Ahh, the great silencer boom of 2026! Thanks to our beloved Congress, not really, that finally got something correct with reducing the cost of the NFA Tax Stamp to $0, there has been a surge in silencers hitting the market recently. Some companies like Dead Air are old hats and have been making quality cans for years. But as with most booms there’s several new to the show and trying to grab some dollars while they can, so buyer beware.

Whether you’re an old hand with using and abusing silencers like me or newly interested now that Uncle Sam has pulled his greedy little hands out of the pot, I figured I’d give you a rundown of some new additions to my tax stamp collection from Dear Air Silencers.

Death to Tax Stamp & Dead Air Silencers

First up, and the one I’m most excited about from a hunting perspective, is the NomadTi OTB, which stands for “Over The Barrel.” Just like it says in the name, about half of the silencer slides over the end of the rifle barrel and is setup with the Xeno muzzle device architecture machined in. What excites me about this can is the reduced overall length of my hunting rifle. With my 20-inch carbon-fiber barrel, this silencer only adds 4.6 inches to my setup. If you’ve been wanting a suppressor but don’t like the extra added length this is the one you want. Overall length is 7.65 inches, with 3 of that slid over the barrel. It comes in at a paltry 10.5 ounces and will fit barrels with a max diameter at the muzzle of 1 inch.

Next up is a dazzling pair of NOMAD XCs. The NOMAD Ti XC is the shorter version, which as you know fits my stature and pairs quite well with my 16-inch 308 Win rifle. The shorter boy has an overall length of 6.35 inches, which is more than enough to keep the ladies happy, and in the hand it’s barely noticeable at 7.4 ounces. On my folding guns this little NOMAD Ti XC is very capable and compact enough to keep it threaded on in the truck.

The longer version of the NOMAD LTi XC stretches the tape to 8 inches of extra length at the end of the barrel and weighs slightly more at 9.9 ounces before the adapter. Both NOMAD XCs are rated up to 300 RUM and feature a new enhanced, two-stage coaxial baffle system that does some super scientificy stuff with the gas and is extra strong according to the engineering nerds. This tall boy will be riding on my long-range gun, as I’m not overly concerned with barrel length and will take the extra baffling.

Now for my pistols and sub-guns, I’ve got the Mojave 9 in the range bag. What I like about this guy is the slender profile, just 1.4-inch diameter, which gives me a better sight picture on my pistols. The Mojave is also a modular design, so I can screw off the 2-inch section for a compact 5.89-inch can that’s not hanging down to my shin when in the holster. This thing is rated for 9mm, 350 legend, and 300 BLK supers and subs.

Dead Air has recently paired up with Ruger for a line of silencers to compliment the Ruger line of firearms. Don’t worry, you don’t need to have a Ruger to enjoy the RXD 910Ti silencer as long as you’ve got a threaded barrel on your weapon of choice. The bore diameter of the 910Ti is compatible from 5.7×28 to your 357, 10mm up to a 400 Legend.

Uncle T’s Take

Silencers are so hot right now! Go get one in the hopper with ATF; wait times aren’t too bad. Yes, you still need to do the nonsensical ATF tax stamp, but the good news is you’re not getting shafted for another $200 on top of the cost of the can. Do everyone a favor and shoot suppressed. Your kids will thank you, your range mates will thank you, and I can guarantee your better half will find you more attractive.
