Great cast. Digging the new handguns. But, I like metal lower hammer guns.

I'm really glad Steyr is figuring out the "open source" angle, as well. Despite my numerous criticisms (frame angle, garbage trigger, etc) of OEM Glocks over the years, the one thing that I thought was really revolutionary (beyond the number of parts) was the fact that everyone and their goat has the engineering drawings, which led to a ton of aftermarket accessories and mods, which in turn has made G17/G19 essentially "open source".

Kudos to the Steyr team. Keep going.

I had myself, I just purchased today an OG 376 styer in the Pro Hunter that a family friend of mine took to Africa !
You're gonna love it. I've got one of the early Steyr Cooper Scouts as well as a ProHunter with a 20" barrel, I've used them on deer and hogs...but I will absolutely have the ProHunter on my next trip to Africa; one of the handiest rifles I own. The Steyr SBS is my favorite modern bolt action out there... great guns.

When I was born dad bough a .300 win mag “Mountain rifle “ a .270 Pro hunter and a 7mm08 he referred to it as a scout, I need to double check that though ,it is a shorter gun, Killed an Arkansas Elk with the .270 and lots of white tails with the other two.

As soon as I get out of law school and can afford the trip to Africa I’ll be taking the .376 along for the ride

I appreciate it! I love my styers, need optics recs on this .376
Realistically, it's probably going to do most of its work inside 300 yds...I run an old Mark 4 2.5-8x36mm on mine. Depending on your eyes, I'd look for something with great glass in the 1-8x range. There are lots of opinions on who makes the best scopes, but I would buy the best glass that your budget will allow; just because first and last light are a real thing. For hunting scopes...Swarovski is pretty tough to beat when it comes to light transmission. That said...I do everything I can to avoid the Ford/Chevy/Dodge debates about rifles/scopes/ammo, etc... Also, having a scope with a large eye box on the 376 Steyr isn't a terrible idea...haha
