What's your go to Whiskey? I've got three.
1. Since I founded 12 Point Droptine Bourbon that is one of my favorites, It's a bourbon finished in Brandy Casks which gives it a unique flavor
2. We all love Cole Hauser here, and his bourbon is Lazy K Bar Whiskey, and it is an 8 year old bourbon distilled in Kentucky, and bottled in Montana.
3. Switching from Bourbon , my favorite whiskey is Macallan 12, or for a special occasion The Macallan 18

For cocktails, I like Old Overholt Rye as it’s a good balance for most recipes and relatively inexpensive. For sipping, I’ve been getting into the Japanese whisky lately. I recently had the Yamazaki 12yr and that’s hard to beat for a special occasion sip.

I’ve been on a Japanese whisky kick as well, if want something a little less precious than the Yamazaki try Nikka Days. Great on the rocks or in a cocktail, super smooth

Favorites are Macallan or Balvenie but since you said go-to, the Trader Joe’s Highland Single Malt Bourbon Cask finish is nice. Great color and a nod to a bit of bourbon flavors.

Other than recently getting into peated scotch, I'm an American whiskey fan. I really enjoy buying straight from a distillery and there are many near where I live in Wa State. Woodinville Whiskey Co makes my favorite rye, cask strength is preferred. Another one is Skip Rock Tricale.

ETA: a recent whiskey purchase, enjoyed in the backyard.

The Alexander Murray scotch os very good for the price. I started drinking it when Trader Joe’s was selling it for $17 a bottle. I think I’m paying $22 a bottle now

I really like Japanese Whiskeys. Other than lattes and water, that's about all I drink, anymore. My wife bought me Tenjaku Pure Malt for my birthday, so I'm not sure how much it costs, but it's been my solid go-to since I first tasted it:

Something I’ve started doing with my bourbon snob neighbors is have them over for “tastings”. Lining several bottles up and judging them all is a great way to find favorites and also get shitfaced. Here are my top 3:
1) Wild Turkey Private Selection. This stuff is incredible…downside is you can ONLY get it at the distillery.
2) Old Forester 1924. An allocation but can be had if you network properly. Right up there with the Wild Turkey
3) Sazerac Rye Full Proof. I’m not a huge rye guy but when they are good they are GOOD. I picked this one up at Buffalo Trace a couple of weeks back. Don’t confuse this with the standard one. It’s amazing.

Macallan 12 and Johnny Walker Gold two of my favorites. Balvenie also solid. I like many bourbons
