I am traveling to Fiji this year and have geared up with a 12 weight rod, and a massive reel with 300 yards of backing. Will be staying on Vomo Island. I am not finding much info on guides and methods for giant trevali fishing. Would anyone like to chime in?

Not a bad place to end up with a fly rod in your hand.

I have been to Fiji a handful of times, but I was there to spearfish and surf, i never did any fly fishing while i was there. When most people think of Fiji, they only think of main island Fiji, and don't realize how many remote outer islands and reef passes there are. A lot to explore down there, and it doesn't take much to get far enough away from people. I would go into this trip with the mind set of being prepared for anything. There are so many amazing species of game fish down there, and large size units. Honestly, you could spend the whole trip just targeting GT's.

I have never been to Vomo, so I have no idea what the situation will be with access to fishing. Im sure they will be able to connect you with a local and a long boat, but in my opinion, the best case scenario will be that you will have access to the coast line on foot, and will be able to target GT's in shallow water. Basically land based DIY GT fishing.

I have a good contact down in Fiji, but i dont think he will be able to help u out where u are staying.

Bring some good reef booties and sun protection, extra line and backing, plenty of flies, and if you can, a whole second reel and rod set up.
A good waterproof back pack will be important as well.
