I was born in California, when the laws were reasonable, when you could drive twenty minutes and shoot something, when shooting chucker along the fence line at Edwards Air Force Base didn’t just seem like a good idea, it actually was, when gas was cheap and cars were loud and fast and not electric, and when Ronal Reagan was Governor and presided over a phenomenal place. I’m unapologetic in saying Newsom, and those like him, have ruined this place, and like @Dave Costarella I’m here fighting, knowing my lifetime may not be enough, and I stay for family, but once my mother-in-law goes, the tethers may get thin. I’ve lived in Washington, a one year assignment that turned in to 10 years, 2 kids, a wife, and a grad degree. I’ve done long stints in New York, Latin & South America, much of that at gunpoint it seemed, and some in the UK.

My family heralds from Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, not the six counties we will eventually win back. My ancestors like Steven Lynch fought Cromwell and put him on his ass. My Great GrandFather was head gameskeeper at the Mucross Estate just outside Killarney in the Ring of Kerry. He served the Bonny Vincent Family, maybe JV’s lineage for all I know. My GranFather was educated at Trinity, a conscript in the British Navy, and then joined the IRA to fight the British, who eventually hunted him in Ireland until he had to come to America, where he found others from Kerry in Southern California, worked on the McSweeny farm and married the farmer’s daughter. I guess you could say the patriot rebel thing is somewhat wound tight in the genetics.

@Jason Vincent bestowed the FE GodFather moniker on me after my first trip with him to Africa, I could have fought him, but didn’t, instead and much to the opposition of @Tony Caggiano for what he continues to think was a racist move against all Italians, I have leaned in to it, and accepted it. Shit, it’s way better than when I was jamming across Latin & South America, where I was known as El Tiburon Blanco, and it wasn’t meant anywhere near as nice as JV’s stamp.

Lovely for the virtual time, and intros, and looking forward to more time in the field together.

Despite our constant bantering, @Tony Caggiano is a brother to me and it was awesome to hang out with him and his incredible wife Charlene this weekend in Paso for my son’s wedding. Yes, much wine (and other beverages) were taken down at Justin Winery yesterday - they were an amazing host to a great event, which I think @Jason Vincent called the “Second Coming of the Catalina Wine Mixer”.

Many highlights, like cocktails in the caves, but in the end, just a great party.

I’m only bummed that my red boutonnière didn’t show up, and the dark office with a desk to meet with people before the event was not provisioned….

An Irish "Godfather" is a fugazi....but it's whatever.

I grew up in Santa Clarita and then Lancaster. Small world.

I love Ireland—I’ve been twice. Visited Muckross House the first time when I took my dad, it is gorgeous.❤️ someday soon I want to have a large estate like that complete with some black face sheep. 🐑

Love that @Jillian C - that area is spectacular, great wildlife is abundant. I sometimes imagine my Great Grabdfather’s life effectively as the house outfitter for the Vincent family guests, hunting stag in those mountain….yummy.

I used to raise sheep out here at the farm. I love eating lamb which is why I initially got into it... But as far as I'm concerned they're fence wrecking pasture maggots.. just saying, LoL 😂

A couple of the lambs got rejected by their mother so the boys and I had to bottle 🍼 feed them. They'd follow us around like puppies which is how they ended up in the house and up at my spring turkey camp..

Omg they’re adorable! The more ornery, the animal, the higher the affection I have for it😆 I would also love to have some goats, but those sheep are just so dang cute. I may or may not have stopped at a random farm somewhere in the middle of Ireland on my second trip just so I could pet one. 🤭 absolutely ridiculous 😂 🐑

Another born and raised Californian here. I grew up in San Diego and am old enough to remember when we could dive for abalone and lobster were plentiful. Scotch/Irish heritage, hence the whiteness of the Yeti. Like you @Godfather I am now only tethered to this state by my mother-in-law and once she passes there is a very high probability I'm getting the fuck outta here. Unfortunately, my daughter is in Colorado and that state seems to be following California down the retarded brick road so I'm not sure where I'll end up...

I am doing recon for what’s next @YETI - we should share intel.

Idaho and Utah are trending.

My dad lives in California—Orange/anaheim area. I lived there for a few years and that was long enough for me 😆. Northwest Arkansas actually has very similar terrain to Ireland/scotland— I was surprised at the similarities. Very beautiful views where you can get land in the country and still be close to the city or live in the city with plenty to do but not feel like you can reach out and touch your neighbor. I always highly recommend anyone come visit or at least check out some pictures.
