Hogue Fillet Flex – 60 Second Review
We nerd out pretty hard for good gear around here. And nowhere does that strike a fine edge quite like it does with blades. Simply stated: a good knife is a prerequisite for every aspect of lives, from the field to EDC. So when we see a new shiny thing that really works, we’re all over it.
The Hogue Fillet Flex is such an animal. Technically, it sports an 8.25-inch blade and measures 13.25 inches overall. So this one is full-sized for big jobs. It comes available with a 3.7-ounce sheath to keep it and you protected aboard your vessel or in tackle storage.
The blade features CPM MagnaCut stainless steel with a 62-64 hardness rating—the techno wizards say it comes cryogenically heat treated as well. We can attest to the hand-honed edge—this sucker is sharp and holds that edge for the meatiest fish.
A Blue Canyon Richlite frame sports scales and a Tiger shark texture. It delivers tactile purchase and looks pretty badass.
But the part that really matter? This blade simply performs in the hand, working through fish after a long day on the water. Stiff where it matters; flexing where and when you need it. You’ll need to carve up a big ass tuna or walleye to ever fully appreciate Hogue’s latest fish blade. This bad boy retails for $239.95.
