I recently got a 2025 Tacoma TRD Sport. Was it the coolest choice? Probably not. Was it the most practical choice? For me, absolutely.

My thinking was pretty simple: I'd rather start with a solid platform and have room in the budget to make upgrades as my overlanding adventures evolve than spend every dollar up front and still have to customize. Plus whats the fun in having someone else do everything for you on a build? Maybe it becomes the truck that takes me on years of trips and bad decisions. Maybe it eventually gets handed down to one of my boys. Time will tell.

That got me wondering:
What's your favorite Tacoma generation and why?

Let's see the trucks, the builds, the mileage numbers, and the stories behind them. I'll be adding to this one after I hit the Georgia Traverse Trail in a few weeks.

I have a 2024 TRD Pro, it's the shit. I had a 2016 Limited before this that I loved but felt it made sense to upgrade at 100K miles to the new generation and plan on keeping this one until it falls apart. I take it all through the mountains out here in Colorado and it absolutely rips, couldn't be happier.
