Mossberg 590R Chisel — 60 Second Review
When it comes to tactical shotguns, the Mossberg name is no stranger to the game. The 590 platform is battle tested to hell and back. But the new Mossberg 590R Chisel is something different, seriously ramping up versatility and AR styling in a home defender.
What makes this one so hot right now is the suite of component choices Mossberg employed. Think AR-15 and everything you love about it. The 590R Chisel incorporates an ambidextrous AR-style rotary safety selector, along with accommodating AR-style stocks, grips and triggers. Combined with Magpul furniture and flip-up backup sights, the 590R Chisel comes correct.
If you’re already really dialed in on the AR platform, then the 590R Chisel makes a lot of sense, bringing familiarity in controls and handling. The premium Cerakote finish is pretty sick as well.
With an 18.5-inch barrel and integrated heat shield, the 590R Chisel comes set up rugged. Keep it in the truck, use it in the turkey fields, or defend the castle.
