Man, I got hammered by poison oak last week, I don’t know if it was from a trail run, or my dogs, but I’ve never gotten even close to this bad. My leg swelled up so much and turned purple. I almost actually went to the hospital to get a steroid shot, I swear I wasn’t being a bitch about it either.

Bro that sucks!!

That blows, I have had a severe rxn to wild parsnips after doing some deer stand lane work in the spring a couple times, lasts 2-3 weeks.

I would do some sketchy ass shit to have a permanent cure for the allergic reaction. Ivy/Oak is the only stuff in the world which bothers me and it fucks me up bad.

That looks like @Pete Correale after a weekend in San Juan

Same. I wasn't really allergic as a kid but I had an incident with a poison ivy vine in my late 20s that changed my body's reaction to the stuff completely. I was covered head to toe, my eye swole shut, and my entire body was caked in oozing crust for a week. It was unpleasant, to say the least.

Years ago I worked the graveyard shift in a Tool and Die Shop in Gainesville, GA.. the guy on swings was running the sand blasting machine to clean and polish the dies and unbeknownst to me had a bad case of poison ivy on his arms.. when I came in and used the same machine during my shift, his funk transferred to my forearms and by the next day the whole damn shop had a case of ivy!

Someone with gonorrhea has to piss on it. Or some other tale from the sea ... Or maybe when Pete pisses on it, it turns to gonorrhea. Idk.

Me too. Never had issues until one time I was mountain biking and apparently got covered in it. Looked like a pink Michelin Man for a couple of days. Now I avoid that shit completely

Bro. Go to urgent care and get a shot. Then go back and get a second round.

Also, is this the place to brag that Im one of the lucky ones who isn’t affected by poison ivy/oak? Too soon?

I once had a horrid reaction that covered my entire body, and whenever I get hit with it again, it has the potential to cover me fromthroat to toes no matter how small the infection. It's happened to me three times now. The only thing I can do is lay naked in bed, covered in steroid lotion. And, no, that's not as much fun as it sounds.

WAY WORSE, the doctor told me that the stuff remains in my body like a virus and can blow up with zero exposure because it's already in me. Literally pops out of nowhere. (I once had mono come back for a second round, as well-- so maybe it's just me.) It's so bad that the doctor gave me a prescription for a lotion he called "turbo charged steroids" that I keep on hand and apply anytime I get a skin reaction of any sort, just in case.
