Yo dogs,

I’m getting the itch for a Rolex. I’m finally in a position to buy one. And it’s not because my wife finally said yes I can buy one. “Cough Omega guy cough”

I really like the Hulk and other classic Submariners are at the top of the list.

Let me know what the FE degens think. No other opinions I would respect.

Congrats man. That’s a great place to be in life.

Get what makes you happy. Over a long enough timeline you’re not going to care about resale value, or cachet.

I wear a black Submariner with date bubble because that’s what my dad wore. And my kids are getting the same when the time comes.

Sentiment trumps market taste for me. But the kids are getting the same message I was given: if you’re in a bad situation and need to hock the watch for a ticket back to the ole’ US of A, DO IT. No watch is worth your life.

@jake.lathers - you will always treasure it, and your will wear it doing everything - it’s a threshold event, for sure, but worth taking the leap. It may also get you home from some strange country if you need currency, sort of Bond style. Go for it!!!

Submariner, hands down. Works with shorts and flip flops to a tuxedo. More or less started the moder sports watch movement, certainly perfected it.

Being in the position to buy one is a great feeling - you and I both. Got on a list for a GMT, and it’ll be a long wait (but hopefully not). Good luck on your journey man.

Always been interested in getting one, but I'd rather spend the money on another trip to Africa. Is it really worth it?

I'd say yes. Though "another" trip to Africa is certainly memorable. I think getting your first Rolex, epsecially if it's associated with some sort of milestone event, coupled with the fact that it likely will never lose value, it's really worth it.
