Many of the guys shoot and swear by Leica Q series. I've used JV's Q2 and loved it. Personally I use Fujifilm XT5 with 35mm lens. In many ways, it's the Leica gateway drug. It's been everywhere with me — Sri Lanka, Italy, Austria, Spain, UK, Switzerland. I have a 24" x 15" shot of the NYC skyline framed on my wall that I shot with it. Amazing quality. See attached for some pics snagged with it.

I’ve heard good things of Leica Q, definitely on my to buy list.

Some lovely images captured there certainly the eye commands.

Take me with you!

Three cameras.

1) sometimes the best camera is the one you always have with you...so yes, my iPhone camera. Can edit in Lightroom to make the best of the crappy rez and lighting. No I don't care that people shoot movies with them or that Apple blows supposed images taken with them up to football field size billboards...they still blow, but if you're willing to dump seven figure sums into post processing...sure...great. But for just documenting that something happened? OK. Examples:

2) Sony a6000 with a host of native lenses. Small, capable, cheap now, and I'm not going to cry if it gets stolen or broken. Example:

And lastly my primary, a Sony A7RIV. A little aged now but still good enough. Example:

I asked a photographer friend of mine what camera I should get/rent for my upcoming Africa trip. He said "Buy an iPhone 17 Pro and learn how to use the camera. It will take better pictures than you can take."

The Google Pixel phones are actually designed around their cameras and I have a Pixel 6 that I use all the time.. there's better models out now.. but my pixel takes terrific photos for my PI business, and I've submitted several of the photos to various magazines I've written articles for and they loved the photos and actually asked me what camera I was using, LoL 😂

Honestly not a bad call... There’s been full on recent big budget commercials shot only on the IPhone 17 Pro. Really good stabilization and Pro res video are sick for making videos look good! The 48ish megapixels make for good photo quality…

I’m just waiting for the FX3 ii to come out and that’s gonna be my go to.
