Sounds like some terrific ideas.. I've only had a couple custom builds from the ground up.. one is a .338 Lapua Magnum based on the Stiller Predator LH bolt action with Badger Ordnance hardware (magazine, muzzle brake, etc.) barrel was a heavy, fluted 30 inch Lilja barrel. Action is mounted in a McMillan stock... Topped with NF 5x25 x56mm scope... Purpose built by Longshot Precision to be a long range (1,000 yd rifle) and it delivers... Fully loaded it tips the scales just under 16 lbs to make it legal for elk and big mule deer hunting in Idaho...
The other, also built by Longshot Precision in Montana, was along more traditional lines (to a point) it's a 300 RUM based on a Remington 700 LH bolt action, fluted 30 inch Lilja barrel with muzzle brake, mounted in a Remington Model 700C custom walnut stock specifically made for me by the Remington Custom shop. Beautiful wood.. the rifle is topped with a Vortex PST 4x16x50mm with BDC custom turrets.. it's also a very capable long distance rifle.. purpose built for open country and dialing long dista

I really like that rifle in your picture! Nice 👍

I wanted modern and retro. I like vintage stuff, but I wanted something I can have a "base" for and swap components and barrels. I already have a sister rifle in 300PRC with the Manners LRH. Rifles are money pits, but its better than drugs and gambling...at least thats what I tell my wife.

I really like the esthetic of your 300 RUM. Blued steel and walnut will always have a special place in my heart.

My .338 Lapua is the desert camo rifle on top of the gun rack in the pics I previously attached.. it's cerakoted and has a McMillan fiberglass stock. With the badger ordnance muzzle brake recoil is really tame (about the same as my .308) but they do not like me shooting it at the local gun range, and I don't like to shoot it at game less than 500 yards away.. it's just devastating... I shot a big mule deer buck with it at just over 600 yards and I could put my fist in the exit hole on the far side.
Same with an antelope I shot at 900+ yards.. I don't use it very often anymore unless I'm hunting Elk or big deer at distances 500+ and the way permits are lately in the West (or my luck drawing them) I don't get that opportunity much.

Very nice!

Couple suggestions,
If your going for the classic look on the 9.3 I'd reccomend the Mcmillan Rem Sporter in "Mcwoody". It has classic lines, shadow line cheek piece, and 24lpi checkering.
I'd also pass on the PTG bottom metal, the edges are rough and unrefined. Look at Sunny Hill or Hawkins Oberndorf, much nicer finished product.

I would if it wasn't already sitting in the Game Warden! The McWoody finish came out the day I got mine in the mail...seriously. I will likely upgrade the BDL to a nicer one down the road. This is going to be a fun project. The Mack Bros bolt is going to be a massive upgrade with dual ejectors and M16 extractor.

I’m excited to see this parts bin rifle.

It was 100% inspired by the Exception rifle. No frills all business.
I juggled buying the Exception, but all I needed essentially is a barrel and a salty old gunsmith to put the sights and barrel band on. It'll be the coolest rifle in my WI deer camp.
Here's the parts bin rifle sans the new barrel. I'm thinking to leave the barrel unfinished stainless. Will likely keep the Aimpoint on there as well unless I swap to an actual optic and Talley QD rings.

Order your Necg sights soon. They are so backed up it’s taken me half a year to get mine.
