Rule #1: Look cool.

There’s no question that the Zev OZ9 Hypercomp is a seriously flat-shooting gun. It takes a lightweight polymer-framed pistol and makes the recoil feel like you’re shooting a 3-pound steel-frame gun. When we take the Hypercomp to the range with shooters that haven’t experienced it before, one of the first things we do is ask them to run their fastest Bill Drill with it. Then we sit back and wait for the inevitable smile. You have to feel it to see how well this thing tracks.

I have been following the team at Zev since their early days when they were the go-to shop for modifying your existing Glock, and they were one of the best sources for reliable aftermarket Glock parts. This is way before optic cuts were the norm on every pistol and when a reliable 2.5-pound Glock trigger was a rare luxury. Zev’s early aftermarket slide assemblies set the standard for the rest of the industry, and their approach to Glock frame modifications were the blueprints for many of the popular aftermarket frames you see today.

When Zev released their OZ9, it was clear that this was more than just another Gen 3 Glock clone. Their chassis system opened the door for almost endless modularity while keeping the basic manual of arms that we all loved from the original Zev pistols. More importantly, after years of testing, it became clear to us that the OZ9 series was built to handle tough conditions like the Glocks we love. Before my days at FE, I knew the OZ9 was a legitimate platform when Christian Craighead endorsed it with his very own signature OZ9 model.

FE x Zev OZ9 Santeria Build

For the FE edition OZ9, we didn’t want to reinvent the wheel. We had a proven platform with no changes needed. What could make this gun any better? Rule #1. Whether or not you can shoot as well as Craighead, you automatically get points if you have the best-looking gun at the range. We worked with the team at Zev to put our FE touch on the overall aesthetic. The barrel, frame, and steel magwell on this gun are all finished in a gold TiN coating that only someone with Santana’s level of style could appreciate. The added weight of the steel magwell gives a functional balance to the gun while the TiN finish gives those components durability that will last for generations. The result? Our magic of The Santeria.

This gun is ready for you to put on your favorite optic and a Surefire XC3. The magwell is removable so you can carry it in a more low-profile configuration. It’s the perfect size for a dual role pistol that will be as welcomed in our ANR Nidhogg holster as it would be concealed inside the waistband. Either way, it will always be a gun you can count on for smiles after a Bill Drill.

Price: $2,300—available directly HERE through Zev Technologies.

Pros: This gun shoots as good as it looks. The Hypercomp barrel leaves a clean slide while providing very effective muzzle control.

Cons: We won’t be running these pistols forever, so you will have to get one fast when they drop.
