Questions by not-so-anonymous Instagram users. Answers by Jason Vincent.
Our Instagram Sunday Q&A is a weekly—or semiweekly depending on JV’s mood that day—chance for you to interact with our team directly. Ask whatever you like; insult us if you please; just don’t go crying about it when JV puts you in your place.
For those of you who are not completely inept, your answers will be swift and educational, leading you to knowledge akin to that of the ancient philosophers who helped drive our species from the Stone Age to modernity. That last part may not be true, but we sure as hell will give you our opinion and help you with whatever problems need solving.
We decided to post these Q&As here so those who had something better to do than look at Instagram on a Sunday afternoon or are dedicated to their craft and actually work Monday morning, can revel in the glory and enjoy some much-needed humor, quality product recommendations, and possible links to Schoby’s OnlyFans page.
*If you are assigned laps, these are not optional—all laps are mandatory and need to be filmed and sent to the Field Ethos Instagram account upon completion. Lap distance is arbitrary; only you know the full weight of your stupidity. Go the distance that feels right.
Sunday Q&A
Q: What’s a few accoutrements I can put on this Honey Badger SD? From stock to fore grips?
A: That word is never ok for a man to use. Run seven laps.
Q: Is it ok to snicker while talking about woodcock?
A: Another stupid word that a man should never use. Five laps.
Q: Least harmful tobacco pouches?
A: What in the entire fuck is wrong with our followers? Seven laps.
Q: Shoot to my wife. Best elk glasser and hunting partner of all time. That is all.
A: You meant “shoutout” to your wife right before you lied about the rest. I’m going to post your profile name next so all your hunting buddies can see that you think your wife is better than they are. On a serious note, we’re sure she’s an amazing woman but don’t do this. Eleven laps.
Q: When did a pack of reds star costing $13?
A: You asked your fiancé for permission to buy an Omega watch and you’re just going to come here and pretend you’ve smoked Marlboro Reds before? No laps. Two-week ban starts today.
Q: Why do you prefer the RMR over the SRO on a double rifle?
A: Its track record of holding up under extreme recoil. Trijicon.
Q: What does a homie got to do to get an invite to the El J with you and the Ron?
A: @dryflyjohn has to approve your application to have Mexican food with our squad.
Q: I’m just missing a sling and an Arca rail on my AR. Any suggestions?
A: Sling: Armageddon Gear. Arca Rail: Annex Defense.
Q: Taking my 2-year-old on her first turkey hunt this week; any advice besides low expectations?
A: Take wet wipes and snacks for both of you. Do not let ticks get on your kid. Be vigilant about that. Best idea would be to ninja one from the truck while she stands in the shotgun seat and watches.
Q: Is the Vudu that much better than the Strike Eagle? Asking for a friend.
A: Yes.
Q: Springfield Redline or SIG Cross in 6.5 Creedmoor for western hunting?
A: Springfield Redline, but .308 would be a better move for 500 yards and in.
Q: Where is the damn podcast episode this week?
A: Our AV team is beyond corrective laps at this point. We’re about to start taking applications.
Q: ETA on the new Jim Greens?
A: Sometime this month.
Q: Anywhere reputable to buy used or vintage watches?
A: @chrono24.
Q: Opinion on origin USA Clothing?
A: They blew a ton of money on influencers and now we never hear anything about them.
Q: Have 16-inch 8.6 Fix. Want another one … 8-inch or 12-inch?
A: Wait for the FE x Q 8-inch collab.
Q: Disappointing first questions. What’s the first thing I should shoot in the face with the .376?
A: Beavers are great for the testing of magnum cartridges during spring/summer.
Q: Are you vouching for Swampfox Optics then? Seen a few posts with them.
A: No.
Q: What’s the crew’s opinion on Staccato Old school or HD line?
A: Staccato’s guns are very solid.
Q: Proper FE approved wedding attire for beach wedding in Cancun?
A: We literally have a product for this specific situation, and you don’t even care. Three laps. Mexican Wedding Shirt.
Q: Rig suggestion for desert bighorn in Sonora?
A: If you can wait about 45 days, our next collaboration with Gunwerks will be the baddest rig in the desert.
Q: What’s the appropriate slur to call someone who says wild game tastes better than good beef?
A: A fucking liar. Anyone who says wild game tastes better than fat grass-fed beef has been watching too much Meateater.
Q: Lady wants to hunt on the honeymoon; recs?
A: Sounds like a horrible precedent and like you haven’t been doing the sex right.
Q: Swarovski scopes worth it?
A: Their optical performance is VERY good.
Q: Thinking about picking up a Taurus in 454 for a bear gun. Solid choice?
A: Yes. Just ask @grenda89.
Q: Springfield 2020 or Bergara Premier?
A: Springfield.
Q: Optic recommendation for BCM Reece rifle? My eyes suck anymore for red dots.
A: Leupold Mark 5 HD 2-10 with an offset Aimpoint Acro.
Q: Will the waxed canvas hats be making a comeback after the last run’s instant sellout?
A: It’ll be a awhile.
Q: If I’m going into bear country with a .357 revolver (not optimal), what’s the best ammo?
A: Buffalo Bore.
Q: You guys have an opinion on the new Colt VMR 1-8×28?
A: No experience with their optics but their ARs and handguns are very solid. We’ll try to get our hands on one soon.
Q: Optic rec for integrally suppressed Henry 300 BLK?
A: EOTech Vudu 1-6.
Q: Another stab—are any QD mounts worth using for a suppressor?
A: Sure. Plenty of them. Ordered a Rugged Suppressors Tri-lug yesterday.
Q: Are Tudor watches a worthwhile mid-range?
A: Absolutely. Call Gunderson’s Jewelers.
Q: For the poors: Savage 110, Ruger American, Mossberg MVP, Henry LASR in 300 BLK and .308?
A: Savage or Mossberg.
Q: Double rifle: do you go .375 H&H or .416 Rigby?
A: Neither. .470 or .500.
Q: Any experience with the new Taurus TX9s? Bought a TX-22 on your rec and it’s great fun.
A: Yes. The Taurus TX9 is solid.
Q: M&P 10mm or FN 510?
A: Both are solid, but the M&P 10mm is the one for bear defense.
Q: No question. Marrying into a family of 3k acres of prime CO elk hunting. Hit the lotto.
A: “The most beautiful woman on earth.”
Q: Top 3 recs for .300 PRC suppressor?
A: In no particular order: Dead Air Nomad Ti OTB; SilencerCo Scythe Ti; Rugged Alaskan Ti. We have all three and they’re badass hunting silencers. Get them from Silencer Shop.
Q: Dream double rifle make/cal if $$ no object?
A: Rigby Shikari 500 Nitro. Funeral grade (all black). It would probably be the lowest priced double they’ve ever made.
Q: Building 7 PRC for western hunting. Leupold Mark 5, Swaro Z5i+, or NightForce NX6?
A: All three of those are great scopes, but the Leupold and NightForce will take a lot more abuse.
Q: Need a scope for my 16-inch .308 SIG Cross; what am I buying?
A: Get a SIG scope. They’re solid.

Q: How’s the cargo room in the Ineos? Considering one for the wife.
A: If you only have one wife there should be enough room.
