im a short barrel guy on everything! Except in a duck blind, never in a duck blind!
I personally prefer the old school guns... Call me nostalgic. Nearly all of my shotguns are passed down through the generations by family members that have passed or old friends who left their shotgun to me.
Now whenever I reach for a shotgun whether it's one my old friend Roy's gold engraved Win Model 24 trio (12, 16 and 20ga), my grandfather's Winchester Model 12, My father's Belgium Browning Auto 5 with 30 inch barrel, my old LC Smith double, or one of nearly a dozen others... It's like a walk down memory lane with whoever's gun it was before they passed. Sometimes I even talk to them, (when I'm alone)... And when that pheasant or grouse or duck falls, it's like a shared experience with an old friend.
The new stuff doesn't provide that for me..

Old doubles have soul, its hard to explain but when I'm walking up to a point with a 100 year old double in hand it just feels right and I wouldn't want it any other way. There is no comparison how a well built double balances and swings compared to a shell chucker...

Shooting a modern auto loader doesn't do much for me, mass produced and souless. The only place an auto belongs is in the duck blind.

For the guys across the pond that get there jollies off shooting pheasants at 50yds and banned from using lead, it makes sense and I get it. You have to remember Jonny is sponsored by Beretta and needs to make content so take that for what its worth.

All those beautiful hand built english doubles are getting sold and making their way to the American market for new life shooting birds properly over mans best friend.

Yes. I just found a '62 Beretta-Sauer O/U Full over modified, and it makes my SuperPosed feel clumsy? The engravings are spectacular. Didn't come with an sign-in ledger from the B&B though. Great dog and birds dude!

I’ve shot a Dickinson for many years. I still shoot her and a Churchill. I have a H&H but it doesn’t fit me worth a shit so that one will likely go down the road. I agree nothing like a fine double. If I need to shoot modern ammo I use a pair of Parker reproductions I have that are actually quite nice to handle. For the duck blind I do use a Beretta and for nostalgia sake an old Remington model 11

lol that was years ago! Those were the golden age of upland hunting back then in ND and surrounding states. I was fortunate as hell to be young enough to hike the miles yet old enough to afford it to take advantage of the situation.
