If you don't travel a ton, or your have high security measures in place, you should let your bank/ credit card company know you're about to travel so they don't flag or block your card.

Wear fucking socks. No one, and I mean no one should be barefoot in an airport or on a plane.

Im sure all of the other guys can relate to this one as well:

Trying to save money on cheap flights with multiple connections etc.

Just spend the money on the best flights that you can find, within reason…. Its worth it….. It will save you time, money and headaches in the long run.

Try and stick to the better airlines, even if they are more expensive.

Having spent too many years traveling abroad, and notably many in Latin and South America on the wrong end of weapons, negotiating deals, ALWAYS carry a spare wallet, fill it full of old cards, video rental memberships, cut the numbers off, and toss twenty small bills in it, and if you are pressed to hand over your stuff, it will buy you a handful of minutes, which in my case was all I needed to get the hell out of harms way.

Agree. I have been guilty of thinking if I save a few bucks its no big deal but many times it becomes a big deal for the little things that make a stay more comfortable!

You couldn't be more right on that. We told our two daughters the same advice and suggestion. They both have listened, thank goodness. However, when they traveled in Europe it was a bit more difficult. The two are pretty street savvy as they are used to traveling in Central America a lot, especially Guatemala. Made them take Karate/Jujitsu, with both getting their blackbelts. At least we feel a little better.
