Since you are polling I'll respond.. both the Husky and the Winchester are stellar rifles IMO.. I'm a bigger fan of the .338 Win Mag... Only because I'm more familiar with it and in our country ammo is more accessible.Need a quick poll. I’m looking at medium-large bore cartridges, and I’m stuck between these two guns:
I have no real use for either, but I want one (or both). Both are basically pristine, and both have 24” barrels.
- Winchester Model 70 in .338 Win Mag
- Husqvarna 640 in 9.3x62,
I like both options here. What are the details on the Model 70? What variant is it? Do you have pics? Push feed or CRF?Need a quick poll. I’m looking at medium-large bore cartridges, and I’m stuck between these two guns:

Both are excellent cartridges. Both are very capable, both rifles are exceptional rifles... Husky has always made an excellent firearm albeit underrated. When you plan your adventure or imagine the hunt, which one do you visualize yourself carrying? The reality is, whichever one you choose, you get a few hundred rounds of ammo for it and it will last you. But whichever you choose, take it on at least one or two epic adventures.Neither have optics, but both are optic ready. The Winchester is a late 80s XTR Sporter Magnum.
As for ammo, if I go 9.3, I’ll probably order a case of PPU SPs.
Neither and both. I’ll definitely kill something with it. I don’t picture a specific gun being carried, but I’m thinking about something heavier with an LPVO for elk in dark timber, hence these. That said, it’s not a need. Both are excellent cartridges. Both are very capable, both rifles are exceptional rifles... Husky has always made an excellent firearm albeit underrated. Considered both. Looking for a .375 H&H right now.Have you looked at the .375 Ruger or 35 Whelen yet?
You have to try the Buffalo Bore 286gr Spitzer Soft Point if you go with the Husqer.Neither have optics, but both are optic ready. The Winchester is a late 80s XTR Sporter Magnum.

Well, there's another caveat to add here; the calibers are both for WTH gets in front of you, that's for sure.....no worries. If you can handle them both, pick them up and feel the balance in a one-handed carry.....does it "hit" your sparking spots in the brain when you look at it, how it FEELs........that's the rifle you'll carry around no matter which woods you're bumming around in......Elmer Keith used to shoot jack rabbits with a 30-06, did he GAFF about somebody's "gun choice" questions? Nope. Drive on Brother! .....and a definitive Plus 1 on the Buffalo Bore ammo selections, for both of those rifles.Neither have optics, but both are optic ready.
