Similar to my truck gun.. I prefer to carry my Shadow Systems MR 920, with Holosun Red dot, or my Colt.22 Mag, as a rifle it will generally be one of my .22's or my Uberti Win 1873 45 Colt, or Marlin 30-30, or Win Mod 94 in 38-55..
Thats usually the woods carry ensemble or going to Maine for landlock ensemble, everyone tries to outdo each other on the annual "fishing/scouting trip", it is really a drinking trip as you all know.

In the event I stumble across a coyote, or one of the beavers that keeps damming my creek, my .300 bo usually tags along when I’m out checking cameras, putting out minerals, or just meandering around the woods.
All excellent choices , my beat friend always asked what's your woods gun , because it was a term from the 70-80's and he laughs are you going to yellowstone , or deer camp its not a question so much as a fetish at this point

Well, in the 70s and 80s as a grommet my woods bumming gun was a 552 SpeedMaster. Today it's morphed into the Taylor's & Co 45-70 from Pedersoli. Mostly it's to protect the dogs in case they are attacked,or attacking, because the woods everywhere about 20 years ago were suddenly with meth labs. Shoot, shovel, shut up; the 3Ss. Plain jane walnut 45-70s are not seen as too dangerous because it's not a "black rifle", more likely to not freak too many people out around here other than the cartels.
