Damn the price of bourbon has skyrocketed. So I'm always looking for values (i.e., cheap) based on what I think tastes good compared to its price. Right now on the lower shelf (under $30) I'm liking the Elijah Craig Small Batch or the Evan Williams Bottled-in-Bond. But I'm asking because there are likely some others out there that are affordable that also don't taste like a bucket of assholes. Thoughts?

I think Bulleit is pretty good for the money. Probably better than the swill we drank during our jam sessions in your townhouse circa 2005.

simple pow end wild turkey 101. talk to a lot of guys in borboun clubs.... all like it. $ 20 or so. spend the extra money on
fancy glasses or hookers..... !

I can't speak to it personally but Green River Bourbon is made right down the street from me. My wife's cousin loves it...and not in the gutter dwelling way.

Elijah Craig 94 Proof Store Picks are the best value in the game right now, $35 and delicious. If you want to spend more the new Wild Turkey 8 Year 101 is $45, and Russell's Reserve Store Picks at $70-$80. I have a lot of much higher end bourbon and these are the bottles I find myself pouring on a regular basis.

Bullit is my unemployment choice right now, Chicken cock is my regular and I do like the collabs. Took the FE small batch to ZA this year.

Buffalo Trace, Woodford, and Clyde May's take the spot for my $30 range. I might be a bit biased towards the Mays being from AL, curious if anyone on here has tried it?...

Clyde Mays doesn't actually distill their own whiskey, it's all sourced from MGP in Indiana. Dettling on the other hand makes some incredible bourbon and rye in Atmore, AL. Seth is the man and if there's any brand that FE should collab with it's them.

Ah shoot, I didn't realize this. It looks like they're going to be opening a distillery in Troy soon. I'll have to checkout Dettling though!

Like some others have said, flip the label and if it’s “Distilled in Indiana” it’s coming from the go to for most start ups

MGP (Midwest grain products)

Even some more popular labels that are quite large still source from them

Otherwise Very Old Barton 86 proof is solid for $35 for a 1.75 for neat, rocks, mixing… however you take your bourbon
