Hey guys, when I’m asking why you’re not buying a product, I’m not trying to get you to buy the product.

I’m trying to find out why you don’t want it, need it, or like it. It’s market research that will inform whether we’ll continue with a product, change it, or discontinue it after sell-through.

FE Society members are our most engaged base because of the different funnels you’ve dropped through to get here.

What I guess I’m trying to say is your opinion really matters to me and Field Ethos and we’re going to base a lot of our products off your feedback.

This isn’t a sales driver.

Do you want feedback in this thread on specific items? Or do you plan to make a separate thread for different inventory item’s feedback?

@Jason Vincent

First, thank you for the continued directness, honesty, integrity, it’s a cornerstone of the brand you built and are growing and it matters.

Above any product, what I like most is the quality partners you work with, the time and passion that inherently must be involved, to deliver great collaboration based products - so that’s huge for me - keep doing that.

Not to be too professorial, I suspect you are doing this, but when evaluating performance, remember buying pace will always mirror the underlying decay rate of the goods, with a bias on a materiality level which is to the individual but can be viewed on average, or in layman’s language, it’s the amount below which I care. Examples: stickers, love them, they are in every FE cart I drop, immaterial dollar amount relative to my happiness; hats and t-shirts, used well they decay at a rate and are replaced, and are generally below the materiality dollar level on average so volumes will be higher. Hard goods, lower decay rate, more material price, and my outside in evaluation is you guys generally restrict quantities and generate scarcity (good scarcity) and these move. On that, while you say this isn’t a sales push, don’t discount some things move fast, as in minutes, and then there is a huge sigh from the community and not a Sunday goes by where you get questions about products coming back - maybe, just maybe, these are great prompts for us to get off our asses and buy something that’s cool before it’s gone!

You an the team have a stellar batting average, keep driving for quality, coolness, usability, and pairing with other great brands - each of you is a consumer in your own respect and your own choices are likely very reflective of this community’s preference.

My $.02 worth…

IIRC, it was a beer bong funnel, but I digress......our household is in a position to "support the Sport" Teams who are in it, and not just a sales pitch, gone tomorrow. I Sub'd to the magazine years ago as it's as close to old-school GenX shit I grew up with in the fields of WI/MIL/LE/ factory worker for General Motors; Made in USA is a plus, but when it comes with a LandCruiser taste, a merino blend, or a hint of Scotch I'm usually in even if I don't "need" it at the moment. So far, as I can tell, your Collabs are spot on.

Specifically on the bi-pods I'd say it may be a bit on the high side $$$ wise, BUT most of us have Harris units which we don't even use at all unless at the range from a bench. Keep moving, keep doing, when Tim Sundles likes your shit in the gun world......? I know, you appear to be a guy who is always sharpening the blades, and THAT is part of why so many are here. Drive on.

I have the FE Rhodesian brush stroke shirt. Love it but wish it was a couple of inches longer as I have to be very careful when carrying that it doesn't rise over my pistol. I typically will pocket carry the LCP Max when I wear the shirt just to avoid printing/flashing.

Zero complaints about my Field Ethos Camel Trophy style stickers

You forgot to add “you’re all cunts”

Personally, I’m a huge fan of the content - I found FE through Sangin, funny enough and I clearly liked what I saw because I went hard into outfitting a Schooby case with the mugs and the chicken cock, etc.

Cool to find a company that’s making the content and products that I would make for myself. Would love to see the Hill People pack restock.

The only reason I haven’t bought a bipod is because most of what I’m doing right now is from a tripod. The bipod is excellent for those who need a good bipod, and it’ll last the rest of your great-great grand kids lives if it’s properly cared for. I don’t have a specific need for it right now, apart from knowing I will need it later, but I don’t have it yet. The bipod is the ultimate lightweight bipod on the market, and there is no denying that. I agree with the @Godfather as far as the amount of utility that one might get out of a new item.

I think the reason that it could have been a slow mover is because:
a) folks already have a Spartan Bipod
b) they already have a bipod that works for them
OR
c) they don’t understand the use case and therefore, they think it’s out of their price range.

I run into C most often when explaining gear usage and the need to buy one a cry once, or buy a premium item to have a better experience. It’s the biggest hurdle for any industry.

A better way to put this is:
Nobody remembers the day that their bipod does exactly what it’s supposed to do and work exactly as intended. Everybody remembers the day that their bipod fails right when they’re about to take a 6x6, 380+ inch Elk. Conveying that to consumers is the single most challenging thing. The product is not a dud, by any means.

I have noticed an uptick in spotlighting specific collabs, and I think that is super helpful when you guys make individual posts for specific collaborations, because it broadens the reach further than a 24 hour story. I don’t know a whole lot about a whole lot, but I bet the knives sell themselves for the most part. I’m sure you know all of this already, but when it comes to the higher end collabs, it’s a matter of education to the following as to why the NEED the item. Like they won’t make it to tomorrow’s breakfast if they don’t buy it. And once that is conveyed, then creating a sense of urgency around it is next.

If you need me, I’ll be outside doing laps.

I’d have to say my favorite product is the long haul sling. I have used it on many western and midwestern hunts, on bolt guns and lever guns. It has never let me down, but more importantly it comes back from the field looking better than it did when it went in. Anyone who bitches that leather slings aren’t practical forgot that the first rule is always look cool. Just clean and oil it every now and then and they’ll get passed down with your guns, not replaced.

It actually carries perfectly.

Only have a tiny complaint with the OG double decker Vice tin. I’m a college student, I use nicotine everyday all day. The design stands out and the anodizing quality is great, but the can itself is a little too thick. I carry it in my back pocket, but I need to take it out to sit through lectures comfortably. Serious first world issues, but still would like it to be a touch thinner.
