I was born in California, when the laws were reasonable, when you could drive twenty minutes and shoot something, when shooting chucker along the fence line at Edwards Air Force Base didn’t just seem like a good idea, it actually was, when gas was cheap and cars were loud and fast and not electric, and when Ronal Reagan was Governor and presided over a phenomenal place. I’m unapologetic in saying Newsom, and those like him, have ruined this place, and like @Dave Costarella I’m here fighting, knowing my lifetime may not be enough, and I stay for family, but once my mother-in-law goes, the tethers may get thin. I’ve lived in Washington, a one year assignment that turned in to 10 years, 2 kids, a wife, and a grad degree. I’ve done long stints in New York, Latin & South America, much of that at gunpoint it seemed, and some in the UK.
My family heralds from Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, not the six counties we will eventually win back. My ancestors like Steven Lynch fought Cromwell and put him on his ass. My Great GrandFather was head gameskeeper at the Mucross Estate just outside Killarney in the Ring of Kerry. He served the Bonny Vincent Family, maybe JV’s lineage for all I know. My GranFather was educated at Trinity, a conscript in the British Navy, and then joined the IRA to fight the British, who eventually hunted him in Ireland until he had to come to America, where he found others from Kerry in Southern California, worked on the McSweeny farm and married the farmer’s daughter. I guess you could say the patriot rebel thing is somewhat wound tight in the genetics.
@Jason Vincent bestowed the FE GodFather moniker on me after my first trip with him to Africa, I could have fought him, but didn’t, instead and much to the opposition of @Tony Caggiano for what he continues to think was a racist move against all Italians, I have leaned in to it, and accepted it. Shit, it’s way better than when I was jamming across Latin & South America, where I was known as El Tiburon Blanco, and it wasn’t meant anywhere near as nice as JV’s stamp.
Lovely for the virtual time, and intros, and looking forward to more time in the field together.
