Dalton checking in from Maine. Have been living in the southern Maine area for about 10 years but proudly born and raised in Aroostook County, Northern Maine. My family is still in the area and I luckily get back often.

The North Maine Woods are the backdrop of most of my outdoor adventuring. Every spring we take our canoes on the Allagash River and other local waters. I hunt for ruffed grouse in those woods in the fall. In the winter I head to western Maine to ski the mountains out that way. Camping, biking, and reading are other interests as well.

A favorite activity of mine is avoiding hitting moose on the state highway going +60 mph as I head back home. I have a perfect record so far and hoping it stays this way.

Happy to be here with you all. Take care and merry Christmas.

Belated welcome to Society, Dalton. Maine is freaking beautiful, however I'm not sure I could survive the winters.

Your moose comment made me chuckle, it's the same in North Georgia, but deer. I've somehow avoided them as well, knock on wood.

I'm just across the border here in NH. Welcome

Thanks for the welcome. Yes it is a beautiful state! I’m happy I was born into the winters as it’s just a fact of life and what I’ve always known. Had I not experienced it my whole life it would absolutely be a shock!

Welcome! DO you just buy a moose tag there, or apply for tags?
It’s a lottery draw. Very low odds, I’ve been on a moose hunt but never had a tag of my own. Each year you apply and don’t draw, you get an additional bonus point the next year. I’ve built up a load of bonus points now
