Anyone else infrequently check the Hodinkee site and close it within 2 minutes? It used to be somewhat helpful but now just lame, repetitive and unconvincing to even click on an article. W.O.E. posts more interesting stories which align with actually wearing watches whereas the former is rinse & repeat of basic facts you should just look for on the company website.

I’m lukewarm on Ben Clymer but I do enjoy the writing of James Stacey; but I have a feeling there’s a tale as to why Jason Heaton turned down the offer to lead that place.

For marketing and FOMO, Hodinkee is still the place. For true horological nerdery and ‘tism-ness, there are better places. Hodinkee is also very centric to the EU-sphere. They show Asia some love but for every straight-to-museum piece that the EU is doing, some small Japanese makers are doing like 2-3 pieces.

WOE has a good thing going, not to diminish that team but I’d say they have the “practical application horology” thing zoned out very well. But they don’t really scratch the surface on the true nerd shit.

Although I still enjoy The Grey Nato podcast.
