It’s been 6 years since he pulled the trigger on a buck. Shot him last night. He ran 80 yards and we watch him stand there for 30 minutes then walk off. Never gave us another shot.
Not a great situation. We were able to sneak out and let him sit over night. Followed blood for 100 yards then it stopped.
He found him dead in a pond in front of the blind my other son was sitting in. Coyotes got to him so there wasn’t much left. It is his second best iowa buck.
The deer fed facing us for ever then finally turned but was quarter to slightly and his front leg was back. He should have went up and maybe even a little in front of the leg. His brain is programmed to shoot behind the shoulder.
Photos suck. He was tough to move being froze and half gone.
