Back last year I was in the market for a small/pocket revolver. I had read some reviews, and became enamored with the Kimber K6XS. Local gun shop had one, so I dry fired it a few times, liked what I felt, completed the 4473 (no NICS check in WV if you’ve got your carry permit), paid cash, and walked out.
Fast forward to early October on a guy’s night my wife hosted for some buddies and me. My State Trooper/FFL/gunsmith buddy brought over a range bag full of revolvers for us to try out. (Incidentally that’s where I got to fire my first S&W 36, planting the seed for the new Tropical.)
Anyway, he fired my Kimber and liked it, but noticed it had a little hitch in the cylinder - it was advancing its full 1/6 rotation to set up the next round while the trigger was still only partially pulled instead of it being one synchronous movement between trigger pull and cylinder rotation. He shoots way more than I do, and has to keep up with his skills professionally, so I trust his opinions literally with my life. He offered to work on it to smooth that out. He stoned the hand lightly, smoothed out the bearing surfaces, and also ended up putting in a lighter mainspring (she’s got about an 8lb pull now) and an extended firing pin to help with harder primers and/or light primer strikes.
Yesterday he told me there was an issue and he was bringing me cash for my Kimber. I asked him what was wrong, and he said nothing. It’s just such an accurate and nice shooting revolver now HE wants it.
He sent pics and video (couldn’t get the videos to load).
That last pic is two cylinders at 20yds shooting about 1/sec.
Anybody else have one of the K6-series and like it?
