The 308 Win. is a great cartridge. I have multiple rifles chambered in it, bolt guns and semi-autos. It's boringly efficient, it just works. That's what so great about it. I've been lucky enough to hunt with 308 in multiple states, AK, CA, WY, and South Africa. Bullet weights have been from 150gr up to 178gr. It really has a lot going for it, light recoil, easy to suppress, accurate, powerful and ammo is available everywhere. I have two trips to South Africa scheduled for '26, and there will be a 308 chambered rifle on both of them. The second trip will include the new Field Ethos/Gunwerks collaboration rifle, "the Pygmy." I spec'ed mine out to be as light as possible, I went with a Ti action, in left hand. The Pygmy will be a great bookend to the other Field Ethos/Gunwerks collaboration rifle I have "the Krylon" in 300WM, one of the two left handers they built.
