Morels

Who here gathers them? It’s one of my favorite spring activities even through I only need to eat them once or twice.

We found one last night in the back yard. We have a little sweet spot in our one acre. They should pop any day now!

Love picking them. It is a yearly ritual for us here in Montana. They won't start showing up until at least the first week in may here though.

I looked for them this weekend when I was pulling tree stands. I didn’t find any but checked my deer cams and had an unlikely visitor. We get a few wanderers cross the Pennsylvania line into Ohio every spring, but this is the first I’ve ever got on camera.

For dinner last night I made a morel gravy to put over whitetail back strap. Also made some turkey nuggets from the bird my kid killed that day.

Absolutely love them! Rolled in cornmeal and fried in butter, there’s nothing better!
