Ok so I got thinking the other night. I have my bug out cabin which is perfect for long term survival - live water, off grid, solar powered, remote, etc. but it is 75 miles from my main house and I currently don't have an EMP proof vehicle...my last Landie Series IIa was sold years ago. So I got thinking about how to get the family to the property in a grid down/Post EMP scenario. That got me thinking of buying another vintage landie, which honestly would be great but the practical side of me got thinking...Old Land Rovers are not fun to drive around town while awaiting for the end times. So what would serve as an EMP-Proof analog family transport mechanism in a grid down event (all paved or decent maintained gravel roads to get to the cabin) but that I would enjoy driving all Sumer long when times are good.

My short list is: 70's 911, VW bug (Baja) or Karmann Ghia convertible....what is your suggestion for classic fun to own and drive but also could pull double duty?

Assuming a 2 person family and a bug out cabin pre-positioned with everything you need? And your EMP proof vehicle just needs enough space for 2 people, 3 day bug out bag, a couple weapons, ammo etc.....a 70's 911 or Bronco would likely be my pick. Bronco for a family of 4 and room for a golf bag to the GC in the summer.

This mental exercise is tough, which is likely the point, because you're sacrificing one of the two problems you're solving for with a singular solution. Given you're only 75 miles away, I'm assuming you have a pedal bike contingency plan?
