@Mike Schoby - that just awesome! Fills my heart with joy seeing this. For what it’s worth, the first time luster may tarnish, or rather fade, but the fun definitely doesn’t have to by any means. I’ve enjoyed every time in the field with my son, now 29, and my focus is how can I create more of them in the future. It may be a son thing, but funny, the adrenaline flips to fuckery, and building the fun in to these adventures.

He has limited time these days given his commitment to our armed forces, but he and I had two trips this year to the Central California Coast for boar, and revisiting long range school - per pics/clips. Yes, he was concurrently hunting bow and rifle, with a range gun.

That is awesome - Smart man - carry a rifle on a bow hunt!

We are doing a euro - debatable for sure being her first and all, but I figure since she likes it there will be many more first species and I don't have room in the house to start the tradition of mounting all of her "firsts"

Ya I get that! My kids all have the mounts in their bedrooms. My daughter's is decorated ha!

Well I have joined the ranks of what many of you already have experienced. I had the absolute joy of taking my oldest daughter who turned 8 on her first deer hunt this past weekend to the Beam brothers Lowrance Ranch in Texas. I have heard for years how fulfilling taking your child hunting, but man that is that an understatement. On her first deer (a doe) I was calm and collected, but when we went out for a buck I was a bundle of nerves. Not sure who was more jacked up - her or me. I honestly haven't had that kind of adrenaline going through me since I was a kid looking through a scope at my first deer. Two clean shots with a Steyr in 7mm-08 with reduced recoil loads - and two dead deer. All went according to plan and luckily there was no drama chasing a wounded deer. She is hooked and can't wait to get back out. When we left her direct quote was "I want to quit school and just hunt everyday"

Haha. You and me both!

Love it… cute freakin’ kid… we gotta get her and Sienna together!

I have two other 2025 hunts that are always fantastic. For the past 25 years a friend and I have guided Texas Youth Hunters on South Texas deer hunts. They love it and it helps with culling. I have attached the pics from this year. The other with Hunters for Heart which is from children dealing with heart issues. We guide two at a time with full medical support in taking whitetails. Both were excellent shots and we had great hunts! My hunter had a custom rifle made for his disability.
