My preferred adventure rigs are older Land Rovers, they just can't be beat (but you will have to work for it). I don't see too many others here in the US.
My two:
1998 Land Rover Defender 110" County Station Wagon (300 TDi diesel) Right-Hand Drive
1969 Land Rover series 2a 109" Carawagon Deluxe camper (289 V8 petrol) Right-Hand Drive

I also have an entire room library of Land Rover expedition books, mostly travelogues, safari photo albums, hunting journals, etc from the 1950s-present all where the trip took place in a Land Rover.

I have an 04 discovery, a 68 109 and a 67 88. I drove the 109 sight unseen from West Virginia to North Dakota. Only breakdown was a flat tire on the interstate that got hairy.

Here's my 2001 Disco II fetching our Christmas tree last year. We have a typical love/hate relationship. I rebuilt the motor about 15k miles ago, added a 2" terrafirma suspension lift since this picture, and in general am constantly in some state of fixing up or repairing small issues. The 3 amigos have been on since I owned it...not an issue I have corrected yet. The weirdest and most frustrating issue I have not been able to track down is that the entire instrument cluster does not turn on in the winter until it has been running for quite a while. Its beyond just 'warming up' to temperature. It can take 10 miles of driving or so before it turns on which means driving without a speedo for a bit. She's an odd bird, but then again they all are. How did I miss this thread?? I have been a Land Rover fan ever since I first learned about the Camel Trophy. I bought this 2000 Discovery 2 "Launch Edition" a couple of years ago. I bought it sight unseen from a guy in South Carolina, had it shipped to my Land Rover fanatic friend in Colorado, and then flew there and drove it home in a horrible snow and rain storm. Since then, I have completely rebuilt the cooling system, replaced the cats, given it a 2" Terra Firma lift, and replaced EVERY fluid in her. I recently found a Safari Guard front bumper and a roof rack that I'll be throwing on after I get her paint touched up.

They are constant work but they sure are fun. I drove a 1968 Series II BACK TO and from West Virginia sight unseen. Had a great time!

View attachment 2747Just completed 2000 miles, London to Istanbul. 8 countries, 5 days. Lots of rain everywhere, lots of snow in Romania. Zero breakdowns. In fact the only issues were a busted horn and a seat heater button.

Leg one of London to Sydney is done. Leg two in the spring.
Very cool! I don’t know what would be worse, heat seater being stuck on or off, depending on the weather.

Is/was this an Outrider production, and did Jack Carr run your over watch? Where/when can we see more?

Would have loved to have had Jack along as overwatch lol.

We do have a film crew that travels with us so stay tuned on that. In the meantime you can follow along on instagram at https://www.instagram.com/defender.x/

The next leg in the spring is Istanbul to Baku Azerbaijan. I think we will try and stay north of the Iranian border...
