Last Friday night I white-knuckled it up to the Adirondacks in a blizzard with my 9 year old son. We skied/snowboarded Saturday, and on Sunday another blizzard rolled through home in NJ cancelling school on Monday. Our one day ski trip turned into three. The little dude can rip on skies and he's making me work to keep up with him. For apres ski, he headed out behind the cabin with the Daisy 880 while I allegedly smoked cigars and drank bourbon by the fire. He was dropped off late for school on Tuesday morning.
Atta boys!!! Good shit!…. I remember my first ski Apres when i was 9 years old… i face fucked a gallon of german beer and cheefed a whole pack of seneca reds… yup, the good ol’ days… good clean livin’!!!!

Met up with the ol’ warthog, @Chip Hunnicutt this saturday and did a good ol’ southern tower shoot…. We skull dragged a couple ring necks…

Sunday I went back up with my brother and dusted up some quail in the pines…. It was a full-filling weekend…

There’s few people I’ll leave the house at 2:30am to see, and they’re all better looking. Bangin’ birds with ol’ Pete beats any booty calls where I live so off I went.

Between flurries of gunfire from the other 25-odd so folks out in that field we talked differences between Southern and Yankee shoots, from what to wear, to muzzle etiquette and whether waterfowl guns are the proper tool (we Southerners use whatever holds the most shells).

It was a good time and now we’re on a quest to find more of these backwoods redneck upland places.

Going on our annual tower hunt this weekend. Went on a warm up field hunt Sunday and took the new pup for his first hunt. He’s tuckered out today

Ah, ole @Chip Hunnicutt at it with the wing shooting. I’m big jealous I didn’t get an invite to this.

Yikes... You ever considered moving?! Jk 🤣

The southern bird quest continues… Checked out a cool lodge in GA this past weekend…. Met up with my buddy Chris and peppered a couple quail…. Great operation… Great guides, great dogs, birds flew great, and the accommodations were nice….

This past Friday evening I learned that the kiddos had a three-day weekend because Monday was a "teacher admin day". It was cloudy, cool and misty here on the "wet" side of Washington, so I made the spontaneous decision to take the kiddos, and my girlfriend's daughter on an extended weekend "cast and blast" trip. Camping in the desert, fishing and shooting in the sun and 60 degree + weather! Turned out to be an epic adventure for them and I certainly enjoyed myself as well. It was a kid's weekend, so I didn't bring any libations or cigars and just made it about them and enjoying the moments. The purple sage was in bloom and its fragrance drifted across the evening air. The song dogs serenaded us every night. We slayed the fish, my son Weston caught a 10 lb. walleye, plus we all caught a ton of smallmouth bass. We called in some yodel dogs, but I told Wyatt there would be no shooting unless they were within 100 yards or less. The boys were using the .22 Magnum that their grandfather bought them before he passed, and I only brought my suppressed 300 blackout. I called a group of song dogs in, but they hung up about 450 yards out. Had I brought one of my other rifles I could have dusted one or two, but since this was for the kids, we just watched them and hoped they would come closer. No dice, lol! This is the west and these dogs no every call by its catalog number. After that we found some ants nest in the ground and dug up the dirt around them, and I showed them how to find scorpions.
The kids loved bouncing around in what they call "the Jurassic Truck" across the sage where there's no road. Great fun, terrific weekend!

Proper weekend!

Hit the road this passed weekend; Been on the road heading north!

Not the best time to drive the sprinter with diesel being damn expensive, but oh well.

Save on gas by sleeping in the rig!
