I had a shotgun before a rifle. A Browning 16ga from my dad. Had a bird hunting scene carved in the stock by an uncle and four notches on the underside for deer killed with it by my dad. It was stolen in a break-in.

First rifle was a Browning A-Bolt in 7mm. Bought bc that was what dad had. Killed all sorts of critters, it’s what I took to New Zealand. Still have it but it’s been in the safe since getting a Gunwerks Magnus in 28 Nosler for Tajikistan.

Sorry for all the Sunday AM posts - too much coffee

This was my first bought about 40 years ago bought by Dad from an old sporting goods chain that doesnt exist anymore. We used to Hunt New Hampshire as we had a place on the NH/ Maine border, In NH Sunday hunting is allowed so we would go long weekends up there. Never had a nice rifle , Used an old H&R single shot 30-30 ( wish I still had it). He bought this 7600 carbine 30-06 for my 18th Birthday ( do the math i have 6 decades in me) , I removed the Beautiful Deluxe walnut wood stock and forend and have it saved for another day. Bought the all weather stovck from Remington years ago, it goes in the woods every year and has dropped deer in ME, NH, VT and PA. One cow moose 20 or so years ago in Skowhegan Maine ( I was the alternate on the moose lottery tag for my ME resident Friend.

Stevens single shot 22lr. It was my grandfathers and he gave it to me when I was deemed ready. It is currently siting in my gun room, waiting to go to my boy when he is ready in a year or two. First "real" rifle that I bought myself with lawn mowing money was a Winchester model 70 push feed in 270. Shot my first deer with it, my first elk, and was my only rifle on my first African safari. Don't shoot it much anymore but it still holds a special spot in the safe.

First firearm that I ever owned, my dad gave to me for my 18th birthday, R1A1 Imbel FAL with some cheap scope he put on it, still have it and it's hanging in my gun closet; used it for deer hunting last year. (Photo is mid gun closet assembly and not finished.)
I really like the Gallow Tech product.

The 30-06 7600 is such an iconic and recognizable gun. For that category, I bet it has more blood than anything else.
