    Norma Bond-Strike 30-06 180 grain

I haven’t tested velocity. My 06 is 22 inch barrel. What caliber and grain weight? Significantly lower than advertised? Short barrel?

    Favorite wild game dish?

Cubed goose breast in a stew is great!

    Favorite wild game dish?

Fresh medium rare blackstrap over the fire is hard to beat. I make most of my deer into breakfast sausage, ground, or sausages and substitute and dish that calls for beef.

Early season, pretty predictable cover to feed, dawn, dusk and night. You get the same bucks on same cameras. Usually rut, and not always peak rut, is when I see more unpredictable behavior and daylight activity. It seems the smaller bucks get more active sooner and more predictably at dusk...

    Retay Gordion

No cycling issues for me so far (couple hundred rounds). I did have some with the Benelli, while breaking it in. I got mine at Buds. I remember that Dunns deal. I told many family and friends. It was a steal and some took advantage. I payed full retail $900-$1000 when I bought my Montefeltro.

    Retay Gordion

Great question. It is a flat rib, similar to to that of a Benelli Montefeltro. I used to have one and this feels, operates and breaks down identically. Honestly, wouldn’t be surprised if parts are interchangeable, specifically the recoil spring which is housed in the stock and usually what...

Do employees get laps or get fired?

Not the worst rule I’ve ever heard. Drink looks great. It looks like it’s got frothed egg white, like sours have. I have to admit, the butter and roll looks pretty damn good 😂

It can feel like whack-a-mole sometimes for sure. I think the best you can do is find their core area or doe bedding and hunt it as much as you can, wind permitting, without disrupting them. I used to try and pick the stand, now I try and sit the same stand and hunt all day, several days in a...

    What’s on the grill?

https://fieldethos.com/a-gringos-guide-to-parillada/ I like to smoke and use a pellet smoker for chicken thighs, turkey breast, and beef ribs. Although, you will usually find me manning the grill of a Parillada! Regular family get togethers consist of beer, wine, and a mix of meats...

Comical sequence from a few years back. I had made my annual trip to Midwest to deer hunt and was hunting hard, every day. I’m talking full day sits, for 4-5 consecutive days in the same spot hoping for 1 of the target bucks to show up. One morning, my nephew needs to be accompanied by an...

Rehashing an old Model 70 debate

I’ve felt sloppy actions with play, but haven’t had enough experience with high end rifles to tell the difference. My current production M70 is smooth as glass without any play or slop. It shoots so good, I haven’t disassembled to see how well it’s bedded, but have found factory loads that...
