This post made me pull the trigger on some JG Buffalo Rangers. Been sitting on the fence so was the push i needed. Wanted a catch all for trails, pasture, and in office which luckily is a casual environment. Look forward to reporting back.
Glad it got someone to take action. I’m still sifting through decisions lol

Courteney Selous and Dr. Martens Wax Commander Chelsea Boots. Both durable and comfortable. The blood stained Courteneys, have become more of a casual wear look. The Docs can do casual as well as more dressy - as long as I keep blood off of them.

Something about this season I’ve gotten more blood everywhere on my gear than any year before. I don’t know if that’s a sign I’m getting worse or better in the outdoors lol.

Blood on your gear equals success in my book.

Just refrain from marking your face or anyone else's face with it...
It's not a thing - we are not in a cowboys and Indians movie...

People have recommended Blundstone and Redback Boots to me. Both Aussie products
My wife is from Sydney and bought me a pair of Redbacks - they absolutely crush Blundstones. Last 10x longer, are 100x more comfortable (IMO) and if you're anywhere in Australia, especially at a tradie bar, you'll earn respect and avoid getting roasted by the locals.

It's good-hearted and part of the culture, but I still wouldn't be caught dead in Blundstones. I'm an easy target as is.

@Dave Costarella - Redbacks are a solid recommendation, the Great Barrier or Bonsall models are great. If you wanted something with a little more polish R.M. Williams makes a solid boot (same Chelsea style), but opt for a rubber sole vs. the leather sole variants. R.M. Williams will take a minute to break in.

Alden makes a few awesome boots that will last a lifetime - as some said, the Indy Boot, I prefer the Plain Toe boot in Suede with Commando sole. Both can be worn with a suit in a pinch, definitely with a blazer.

I've been wearing a pair of Double-H "Jace" boots for the better part of a year - look good in darker denim, perform on ranch and job-sites, are tough and rugged. Throw some leather conditioned on em' and can be dressed up for sure. Can wear all day, standing, doing tasks and the soles are non-slip, oil resistant. The all day comfort of these boy boys is no joke.

I’m probably the oddball in all of this and have transitioned to all barefoot style shoes and boots. Lems and Vivobarefoot are my go tos but I’ve been looking at the Jim Green barefoot soles.
Vivo was my go-to for a long time but their quality went way downhill.

I just p[icked up some Buffalo leather Jim Green Rangers for the trade show season, look classy and comfortable for all day work.
Anyone know the Vans to JG Ranger conversion?

I’m an 11.5 in Vans. Rangers in 11.5 feel like they might be too big in the toe box - very roomy with some lateral movement. Wondering if I should exchange for an 11.

I’m pretty true to size in the jim green rangers. They felt a little off at first with the toe box space. Have put about 25 miles on them in the last month even jogged a mile or so in them out in the field. You get used to the toe space pretty quick.

True to size in JG's = roomy toe box. It's just how the shoes fit, so your toes and front foot can spread out. Unless your heel is slipping when laced up and locked in - then I'd size down. But, if your back, most of mid foot is locked in - you're golden.

What I would 100% recommend of the bat is getting a pair of Sole 0 Drop insoles ASAP for JG's. They're a huge improvement for overall fit, and increase comfort level 10x.

Jim Green Barefoot Shoelie. No socks feels like a flip flop without the toe thong.

Have a pair of Origins boots. Look great but aren’t particularly comfortable.

I can vouch for the Double H Jase boots. Very comfortable. I have narrow but long feet (14B), so if you have an oddball size The Boot Shack in St. Paul, MN will have a great selection of odd sizes. Ask for Gabe and he can ship anywhere.

I'm still on the lookout for a better mousetrap, but Georgia Boot Romeos have treated me well. The sole wears a little quickly for my taste, but I say that about everything, nowadays. I'm on my 3rd pair, wearing the "nice" ones to work until the soles wear, and then I relegate them to yard work duties. At $110-ish dollars, they won't break the bank. Do NOT get the Superlyte version, as they use a different padding, but the "regular" is comfortable. The only downside for me is that they can get pretty hot when standing in direct sunlight (I live in the Mojave desert) so for the most part I go with something else during the summer months but wear these through the other three seasons. To answer your question on "what I wear them for," I'm high school administrator in real life, so these are used for everything from endless meetings to overseeing ground repairs in the athletic fields to student supervision duties (encompassing pure boredom of standing in a downpour of rain to breaking up 8-person fights), then beyond that it's everything from yard work to "practical" shooting in the tactical bay at the range. I don't give much of a crap about fashion, but they look well, are comfortable, and they keep me from falling on my rear end when things get interesting.

Not sure how long it lasts but the duck feet are 40% off today, bonus if you know your Euro sizing...use th elink i dropped above...

Several years back, I was in a position that needed me to dress up a bit more. Never a full blown suit and tie, but slacks and a button-up with the occasional blazer. For Christmas one year, I got a pair of Allen Edmonds boots. I wore the daylights out of them and never had any problem walking on a construction site or walking through the yard to feed the animals. Once I wore them out, I sent them back to Allen Edmonds, and they re-worked them and put new soles on them, and I wore them for several more years and did it again and still wear them a couple times a year.

Now I dress more casually, but still have meetings with clients daily in conference rooms. I wear a pair of Jim Green Rangers. I got the one with the leather midsole in bronco brown, and they are a handsome-looking boot.

I completely agree @jkrispies... I'm a huge Romeo fan but the soul wore thin on my last few girlfriends... I'm currently in the market for a model with a tougher soul.
