My wife is from Sydney and bought me a pair of Redbacks - they absolutely crush Blundstones. Last 10x longer, are 100x more comfortable (IMO) and if you're anywhere in Australia, especially at a tradie bar, you'll earn respect and avoid getting roasted by the locals.
It's good-hearted and part of the culture, but I still wouldn't be caught dead in Blundstones. I'm an easy target as is.
@Dave Costarella - Redbacks are a solid recommendation, the Great Barrier or Bonsall models are great. If you wanted something with a little more polish R.M. Williams makes a solid boot (same Chelsea style), but opt for a rubber sole vs. the leather sole variants. R.M. Williams will take a minute to break in.
Alden makes a few awesome boots that will last a lifetime - as some said, the Indy Boot, I prefer the Plain Toe boot in Suede with Commando sole. Both can be worn with a suit in a pinch, definitely with a blazer.
I've been wearing a pair of Double-H "Jace" boots for the better part of a year - look good in darker denim, perform on ranch and job-sites, are tough and rugged. Throw some leather conditioned on em' and can be dressed up for sure. Can wear all day, standing, doing tasks and the soles are non-slip, oil resistant. The all day comfort of these boy boys is no joke.
