We're always on the lookout for great stories to cover in print or on our website but it's impossible to know about every cool thing that's ever happened. If you come across a story that you think FE should research and write up, let us know below. Links to sources are welcome. Fire away.

Charlie, This is one of many great stories in a book I have called "The best of Zane Grey Outdoorsman", I read this once many years ago, and it stuck with me for being unusual and epic.

Roping Lions in The Grand Canyon (1908) by Zane Grey is a non-fiction account detailing an expedition with "Buffalo Jones" to capture mountain lions alive using ropes on the Grand Canyon's Powell's Plateau. The team captured six cougars, which were often bound and carried in burlap sacks.

Matt,

Thanks for the recommendation. Zane Grey's stories are definitely legendary and entertaining. though maybe a bit too fictionalized to pass as "creatively remembered non-fiction."

The Bible verse in your tagline is hands-down one of my all-time favorites.

I’ve got a ton of stories in the pipeline, and you guys have already been kind enough to pick up a few. I really appreciate that. I’ve been kicking around an idea for a piece that feels right in line with FE’s spirit, and I’m going to start working on it either way.🤙

Now go look up Buffalo Jones roping rhinos, cheetahs, lions, zebras, etc. in Africa...

His stories certainly seem a bit fantastic, of course back when he lived there were more and larger fish and game. Everyone who could validate or dispute the authenticity of these stories is long gone.
