Born in Colorado, raised in Spain, settled in Central Texas. Just getting into guns, and the next step is learning how to really hunt. Looks like I might meet somebody who knows about that here...

Publish books for a living (well, I make a buck or two) and as a passion, and run a small tech company to pay the bills.

Born and raised in eastern Iowa before moving to Minnesota for a while. Got out before George Floyd and the Somali daycare boom. Made my way back to Iowa and now call the central part of the state home.

When I’m not working, I’m usually hunting whitetails, turkeys, pheasants, and coyotes, or planning out of state hunts for bear, elk, and eventually moose. In the hunting offseason I can be found coaching one of my daughter’s softball teams, and raising both daughters to be skeptical of boys who wear Sitka camo and shoot 6.5 Creedmoor.

Also enjoy cooking and crafting a line of BBQ sauces and seasonings that I hope to eventually sell commercially to pay for my hunting habit.

Grew up in WI, went to college in Michigan. Moved to Iowa 20 plus years ago because it was the only decent job opportunity. I had zero interest in staying here but I met my wife within a few months and that was it, been here since. Married for 22 years and I married way above my pay grade. I guess I fooled her before she knew any better.

We have three kids, 20 year old sophomore at Iowa, 18 year old senior that will be going to Iowa next year and a 15 year old high school sophomore. Oh did I mention I fucking hate Iowa! The two oldest are boys youngest is a girl. Good luck to whoever marries her they better be able to keep up. All three have always enjoyed going in the outdoors with me.

The last 4 falls have been focused on chasing the boys around a football field. We lost my dad on August 3, 2023 he is the one that built the fire in me for the outdoors. August 25 would have been his birthday, oldest was a senior and middle son was a sophomore. It was the first high school game of the season and both boys started on Varsity. It was a bittersweet day and my old man would have loved to watch it. They just fell short of a state title that year in my opinion they had the best team in the state, one bad injury and a bad bounce in the playoff ended the season. The last sport we have left will be watching our daughter on the golf course the next three years. The boys were all in on sports and she never really found something until golf a few years ago, now she is addicted. The funny thing is after all those years with the boys doing sports she may be the one that plays in college.

Bought into a business a few years back and as it starts to pay back my list of hunting activities will only increase. I have a lot of bucket list hunts on the docket for the next few years. Even with having a busy life I have been able to spend lots of days in the field here in Iowa chasing mainly deer but we always work in some ducks, turkeys and pheasants. We will always have a form of a bird dog in our house, some get trained more than others. Current version is the sweetest golden you could be around, she is a 65lb lap dog. Hell on pheasants but a little lost in a duck blind.

Oh I am terrible writer so any grammar police type can fuck off already and take a few laps. Just saying!

Merry Christmas gentlemen. I’m Rob from Northeast Ohio. I teach 10th grade US History. Married for 15 years and have a 12 year old daughter and 9 year old son. Born and raised hunting, trapping and fishing. Archery for whitetail, spring turkey, and catching a bucket of bluegill on the ice are some of my favorite things to do. Waterfowl and any other birds I can find with my Pudelpointer take up most of my late fall and winter. I’ve been following this crew since before the first print journal was shipped and have loved every article and post. Keep em coming!
Hey Rob - fellow NEO guy here

From SE corner of Kansas, living in Texas, working for Oklahoma Department of Wildlife. Duck hunting and fishing are main but will do about anything related to outdoors. Have a challenge that I'm on with a group call the Ultimate Waterfowl Challenge (UWC) and got 40 of 41 species of waterfowl knocked out. 20221020_164047.jpg20210101_141344.jpg

Twinsburg Township. I used to fish a lot at West Branch near you and occasionally Mosquito.
I was in Twinsburg today for Occupational Therapy. MS can suck it but I’m far from dead. Mosquito has been good to me for ducks and ice fishing. West Branch isn’t far. Pymatuning is another favorite.

I live in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. Home of Yuengling.

It seems like all I do anymore is shoot pistols and reload with what little time I have on the weekends. But other than that I also have a bunch of dirtbikes, and a jeep and old 80s ford diesel project that I work on once in a blue moon. Scuba is cool too. But this isn’t an ideal location for it.

We’ve got readers and subscribers scattered from the swamps of Florida to the mountains of Montana, and a few even further out. So let’s get a lay of the land.

Where do you call home base?
And when you’re off the clock, what’s your thing? Hunting, wrenching, fishing, forging, flying, sailing, training, tinkering, storytelling… whatever keeps you from staring at a screen too long.

Drop a quick note below. Photos are always welcome. Bonus points if your off-duty life looks like something we’d write a story about.
Based in northern Italy, whenever I'm not working I usually tend to my dogs, hunt with them, and wrench on stuff like old diesel 4x4 and anything with an engine. I also love old cars mainly 70s and 80s and try to get better at shooting with poor outcome. Always down for helping friends with stuff to do and glass to empty

Good afternoon Gentlemen,

Born outside of Philadelphia. Moved down to St. Petersburg, Fl a few years back. Great place so far. Working in the commercial trucking industry in regards to sales/marketing.

When not at work I’m finding the closest area of water to fish. Started fly fishing up north and brought it with me to Florida. Pretty damn different from freshwater to salt. Learning how to fillet them now and making some recipes through em.
My godson is in Tierra Verde so we fish out of St. Pete a lot. If you hang around enough bars in Treasure Island, you might learn about some good numbers to chase reef donkeys.

My name is Wendell, I live in North Texas. Have a 1000 acre ranch in NW Texas where we hunt Aoudad and 2700 acres outside Cisco TX (1.5 hrs West of Ft Worth) where we hunt exotics, Turkey & Whitetail.

I hunt all over the globe, as often as budget and wife allow, Africa, Europe, South America and Western US and Alaska. I run hunts on both my ranches and I have been a bookings agent since 1999.
This is a proper introduction.

I live in Lane Oklahoma where I was raised. We run cattle as well as train and sell rope horses. 3rd generation to do it on this place, and raising a 4th.

My wife and I both rodeo, which leads us all over the US. In recent years I’ve slowed down some on the rodeos, and am able to hunt much more. Looking forward to the places it takes me in the future.
I’m getting into hoof trimming, so let me know if you ever need a hand.

My main gig is a real estate broker, but I’ve been making kitchen and hunting knives in my garage since 2022. The rest of my time is with my wife and kids at my son’s BJJ gym, and mentoring my church’s youth students. 🤙🏽
Post some pics of the knives dude
