I'm old, er I mean old school. I have a Maverick 88 pump shotgun with the short barrel. It's loaded with buckshot, hollow point, hollow point, buck shot, hollow point. Don't need a light on it because our house is never fully dark. Don't need an optic on it because shotgun and short halls

That said, I'm more likely to grab the XD45 with a Surefire and Holosun loaded with Hornady Critical Defense

Didn't see this thread till now. I'm running a Vang Comp'ed Remington 870 (literally running-- I chased a crackhead away with it the other night) but am curious to do the same thing with an M590A1 "for my wife" and then see which I prefer. Still figuring out the optic, but I have a Streamlight TLR-7X on it that I like. I know that everybody raves about Federal FLITECONTROL 00 buckshot for its tight pattern offering extended range, but I think Hornady Critical Defense is the bees knees... because if I wanted a tight pattern and extended range, then I'd use a rifle. Admittedly, if I had the $$$, I'd get the Langdon 1301.
