Car guys all have their ideal 3 car garage setup. You need a daily driver, a utility vehicle, and a fun car of some kind.

Right now, my setup is:
-Subaru WRX Wagon 5-spd as a daily driver
-Land Rover LR4 as a utility vehicle
-Porsche Panamera Turbo as the fun car/weekend car

If money and space were no object, I would do the following setup:
-Panamera Turbo as the daily
-Ineos Grenadier as the utility vehicle
-993 Turbo as the weekender

The Subaru WRX wagon is an awesome car, I really wanted one in high school. I agree with your general framework.
Right now, my setup is:
-Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro as a daily driver
-VW Golf GTI as a utility vehicle
-Aston Martin V8 Vantage S as the fun car/weekend car

If money and space were no object, I would do the following setup:
-Aston Martin DB12 as the daily (at least it has a small backseat!)
-Lexus GX 550 Overtrail as the utility vehicle
-1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang as the fun car

That V8 Vantage is so much car for the money when you look at current market prices. They’re surprisingly reliable for a British car.

I'm in the market for a Panamera turbo as an airport car and grocery getter. Looking sub 30k with great maintenance records. I'm a fan of the turbo executive models.

Cool thread. Been wanting a panamera gts to
go with my AT4. Depreciation has tried talking me out of it. I want to be talked into it. Anyone willing?

Panamera and Taycan depreciation is crazy! That being said, a slightly used one with low miles is definitely a good buy. Make sure to get the warranty though, Porsche maintenance can be insane.

No question a 70 series Land Cruiser.

Wife's driving a diesel suburban been happy with it.

Then whatever makes ya happy . Porsche. Detroit muscle. Motorcycle. British.

My ideal stable a little odd because I need to haul a bunch of kids, and I don’t own foreign cars.

Ford F450 six door conversion

Chevrolet Explorer van. Surprisingly these can be had with a Duramax and 4wd.

Ford Raptor. I’m waiting for someone to perfect a Godzilla engine swap. I think the Godzilla 7.3L with a Whipplecharger is the ideal motor for a Raptor. I’m worried about the longevity of the Raptor R engine.

If you buy toward the bottom of the depreciation curve, you can drive a fun car for a few years and sell if for what you paid

Porsche maintenance can be insane, but those cars will do serious long mileage, built strong. 1-3 years used is a perfect market equilibrium for value capture.

Excellent question @Ron Dan

My philosophy is simple: create no garage queens.

All of them should be daily drivers, vintage to new.

So, it’s seasonal for me.

You can find me with Matt Farah in one of his Smoking Tire videos, that 1968 was my daily at the time, affectionately known as the “Bahammer”, a weird combo of ‘Bahama’ as in Yellow, the Porsche color for my car, and ‘Hammer’. Anyway, I digress. For that era, when I was on a plane 4-5 days a week, mostly offshore, coming home to analog was spectacular.

That ride is now owned by Jake, Sangin Instruments, my friend and an awesome guy.

The Farah interview is fine - this short film is some better footage of the car, albeit quirky.

But if modern, and I wanted to drive fast, the best daily would be a toss up - either a 992 Turbo, more comfortable than a GT3 (even Touring) and still tons of performance, or a Macan Turbo (way better gearbox than the Cayenne for an SUV, always PDK over Triptronic).

Kevin Lynch, what’s your favorite Daily Driver Porsche?

Very cool short film. Thanks for sharing.
