My 200 is the perfect daily that’s still adventure capable. I currently have a 2011 Silverado that’s just for hunting/fishing. It was my younger brother’s first truck so I bought it when he upgraded to something newer. It’s a fun, relatively inexpensive, build that serves a purpose BUT I would like something more vintage like a square body GM or a two door G wagon.
Our ‘fun’ car is a 2019 AMG GT63S. Since we have a young son, having four doors is the practical move in this season. I do want a 911 at some point. My dad had one and I miss the feeling of a dedicated sports car.
Very blessed to have a ‘3-car’ setup already but wouldn’t mind a few tweaks in the future.
GT63S is a hell of a car. Most folks drive by them and have no idea what’s under the hood.

In the last year, I replaced my 2018 Carrera GTS for a MB GT63 and my 2021 TRX for a new Chevy ZR2. Seems like I'm always spending the 3rd car fund on another hunting trip.

No buyers remorse with the GT63 but the GTS was really nice. Maintenance costs were ridiculous and the Porsche sales/service people were the most pretentious and arrogant people I've met.

If I could find (actually afford) an old Defender, that might be a really tempting 3rd.

I agree with whoever said essentially "no garage queens". In the upper Midwest, a decent truck and a nice 2 seater fits almost all needs.

In your pursuit of the older defender, you should really go check out the Ineos Grenadiers. It might fill your void between the older defender and the TRX you traded out.

My garage:
  1. My daily: 2011 F-150 with ~100k miles. Inherited from my late grandfather - lot of sentimental value. I installed a new head unit, Eibach pro truck suspension, bakflip bed cover, and a set of falken at4’s. Feels more like a 6 year old truck than a 15 year old truck
  2. Wife’s daily: 2018 Lexus GX 460 with 75k miles. All stock except for a few minor performance mods. Will likely be adding a set of falken tires this year. Even stock, this is an absolute beast in the snow
  3. Vespa LX150. Sold this recently, but it was a helluva good time.
Need to add apple car play to the Lexus - the 2018 GX sometimes feels older than the 2011 truck.

My hope is for the truck to live long enough to be my son’s first car in about 16 years and 1 month (he’s due in Feb)

I’ll be on the hunt for a new fun daily driver in 5 years or so to give the truck some relief. Maybe the new GX or Land Cruiser

Do yourself a favor and test drive an Ineos Grenadier. You won’t regret it.
