I love things with a good story behind them. Like my Land Rover Discovery II, it's a 2000 "Launch Edition" which means it painted in a color called Kinversand. Only 200 were made and not many are left.

Along those lines, when I graduated from Marine Corps Boot Camp on 1993, my dad gave my his Sig P226. I've carried it for years and never really thought about it other than it is a great and reliable pistol. Recently, I came across a post somewhere in which they mentioned there were a few with misprinted slides. They were supposed to say "Tyson's Corner, VA" but the misprints say, "Lyson's Corner." Again, only a few made it out before the factory discovered the misprint.

I went and checked mine and lo and behold, I have one of the Lyson's Corner 226's.

Anyone else have any unusal firearms?

One of my favorite heirloom pieces is an 1848 pepper box that my grandfather gave me. It’s locked up in one of my cabinets right now, so I don’t have a pic but here’s something similar. Mine has 6 barrels as opposed to this one.

Always on the hunt for oddball SIGs, that's a beauty you got there. In 2012 my agency Lt. let me off the hook for a few days for LE SIG 2xx series armorer's class, run then by Dennis Carroll down in Springfield. Figured it'd be a roomful of Cops, turned out to be a roomful of super secret squirrels fr LE and MIL, and the hook was set. BOLO: you're looking for the SIG 1911s produced when they were still called SigArms, came in blue or red hard cases. Serial #s under 5000 preferred, the lower the better. These early runs were made with Caspian frames/slides, and a menagerie of higher end "custom" WC parts, etc., installed by another roomful of true crafstmen. LE geeks look for the #s in the 10XX for their favorite service call, 10-54 for example would be livestock on the road, 1033, etc...

This was my grandfather’s Star Model B 9mm. I’ve heard a lot of stories about this gun. It was made in 1952. I was originally told it was brought back from the war but that obviously is not the case given the year but it’s still a cool, fun gun to shoot. Very much like a 1911. Grandpa Bustard was a combat engineer in Patton’s 3rd Army. He landed a couple days after D-Day and fought with Patton through the Bulge, was present for the discovery/liberation of Dachau, and finished his service riding home in the middle of a hurricane. Total badass!

I have a Star Model BM that is still a workhorse. It’s incredible that you used to be able to buy them at shops for $200. They’re so well built and accurate.

A very limited edition of Ruger’s New Model Vaquero SA revolver. The John Wayne commemorative of his 100th birthday in 2007. My wife bought me one for Christmas, and my brothers and I (there are 5 of us total) chipped in and bought one for our dad. I have since taken possession of dad’s revolver. A pair of pretty special 45 Colt wheel guns.

That's a really nice revolver!
