Follow up: have you ever used this specific ammo before?Sheesh. Sorry it happened to you. I'd retain the remaining ammo. Was it the first round of that ammo you fired through it?

I also would like to ask how many rounds had you fired prior to this happening? Not just of the ammo you mentioned but any ammo?Yes, my photos. Just happened.if you look on the second photo you can see the FE, Field Ethos, logo.
No, lol it was like #18/20. Was running a whole box thru it. Make sure she was ready for dog walking operations haha.Sheesh. Sorry it happened to you. I'd retain the remaining ammo. Was it the first round of that ammo you fired through it?
Around 60 fmjs, and 18 hollow points this trip, 100 fmjs the first trip. About 178 total on 2 range visits.I also would like to ask how many rounds had you fired prior to this happening? Not just of the ammo you mentioned but any ammo?
It was a new batch of ammo. But, according to spec, well below pressure thresholds.Follow up: have you ever used this specific ammo before?
Considering you'd fired other ammo I'd be in touch with the manufacturer of the ammo, supervel in this case. It definitely seems like a double charged round caused the failure. It was a new batch of ammo. But, according to spec, well below pressure thresholds.
I'd be in contact with supervel over it. Hopefully they will do the right thing and replace your 36.lol do we think this is covered by warranty?
10000%I know one of the places I want to grab a pic once I get mine is this local bar. Check out the brass placard.

I’d like to think I have influence over Lipseys but you might have a better chance by giving @Ron Dan an over the pants handy.@Terry Houin, If you got any pull, have Lipsey’s send @David Simerly one (DNA Guns in Bunker Hill, WV) for me and I’ll bribe Dave with Old Fashioned’s at the bar to take a nice picture of it! No need to narrow down the type of handy. I’m a fan of most.I’d like to think I have influence over Lipseys but you might have a better chance by giving @Ron Dan an over the pants handy.
@Ron DanDoesn’t look the Tropical is +p rated, even though it says +p on the barrel. Super Vel factory ammo.
Chuck, can you DM me your contact info so we can talk about this? I want to find out all the details surrounding this.Doesn’t look the Tropical is +p rated, even though it says +p on the barrel. Super Vel factory ammo.

The gun is definitely +P rated. @chuckneagle18 , that’s enough damage to suggest that the ammo was insanely pressurized. Double +P charge by an employee at 4:45pm on a Friday. I’d bet the farm on it. Super Vel? Never heard of them. That doesn’t mean they’re bad, but it does make me wonder if they have checks in place to keep their employees from making dynamite sticks that fit in revolvers.
Ok, that makes me feel better. I don’t have as much knowledge on who all is making ammo anymore since I’ve been out of the retail firearms side for over a decade, but I’d never heard of that manufacturer either. @David Simerly and I hypothesized that it was a double charge, too.The gun is definitely +P rated. @chuckneagle18 , that’s enough damage to suggest that the ammo was insanely pressurized. Ever with a double charge, those guns are tested for it. This had to have been something weird.Ok, that makes me feel better. Well the gun was fine until it wasn’t. Only a serious pressure spike would get it there. The gun didn’t magically cause the pressure spike mid session/mid box. Only ammo can do this.Ever with a double charge, those guns are tested for it. This had to have been something weird.
