I am torn on how to Scout out my Fix after watching the latest Donnie Vincent film in Alaska.

I was thinking of putting a full length rail and running the Vortex scout scope and irons, but his rifle with the AUS direct mount looked pretty slick and in the vein of a scout rifle for utility and handiness. Top the scope with a Delta Point pro on a ring of fire and it is a modern irons concept.

The hives opinion?

As an aside Donnie's film is great. I think FE films are 100% but he is for sure 99.5%

I don't know about OPSEC deficient...when OPSEC gaps are as flagrant as these, it could well be Information Operations...while it is also entirely possible that these guys (myself included) may just not give a shit...it is difficult to say with any level of certainty... 🤣
Agree... It could be one, or more, or all the above.

Sometimes I'm too "kind" in conferring benefit of doubt. 🙃

I guess since we're showing ankles and tips...I'll flash a little tramp stamp... this is 5 at 100. The zero needs a little adjustment, but it seems to want to shoot... I'll be over the shit box dollar limit by a few bucks, so you Gucci boys probably don't have anything to worry about here... lol
That’s very very legit

I’ll go in early. I’m going with the spirit of the concept with modern tech.

Q-Fix in .308 for enough power to hunt big game. This rifle has taken warthog and blesbok. Full dress weight is 8.1 lbs.

2.5-8x Sig SAUER BDX scope in a Reptilia direct AUS Mount for weight. The scope that puts shots in a 1.5 MOA box up to 600 yards.

Leupold delta point pro red dot on a ROF mount to replace irons (it’s a new world old man, lol)

HopticUSA quiver for extra ammo on the gun

Spartan Javelin bipod mount and bipod on the gun as needed with an Annex Defense Sidekick Arca rail so I can use a tripod if needed but does not interfere with off hand shooting.

Black Canyon Systems sling which does work with off hand shooting and carried the rifle successfully in Africa.

Great setup. So great that I already have a few set ups almost identical. I’m not “entering them” into the contest though. Still in concept phase. I was going to come in with a bunch of rails welded shittily to a Jungle Carbine, but knew it wouldn’t group. Still in white board shape phase.

Donnie's channel came into my ewe toobz feed, last month IIRC, awesome production.....got me thinking about the Fix for the 1st time....which brings in 2 sidebar questions; Anybody putting a suppressor into their build, and are Donnie and Jason related?

What did/would the Colonel say about suppressors on a Scout/SuperScout?

I mean I wasn’t planning to but okay.

Been playing with this combo, not sure on accuracy but quiet. It’s also hard to take a cool pic weighing it.

I think the Colonel would be in favor of every advantage possible.

I don't know that St Jeff ever said much of anything about cans. Probably, largely, because at that time and place, they were simply not a feature of the debate. Additionally... they detract a bit from the "austere" philosophy around Cooper's vision. So....

To be fair, he didn't advocate for muzzle devices of any kind, and once or twice shit-talked flash suppressors.

All that to say... to some degree, when Jeff died, the purists made the Concept a museum piece. The operatives continued to build on the concept with the understanding that Cooper wasn't a "purist", but did have a point.

This goes back to the RDS points early in this thread.... Cooper was complimentary about RDS in terms of quicker target acquisition and accuracy. His doubts centered around their durability and battery-driven reality. What can go wrong, will... essentially.

But, that was before the Aimpoints had their GWOT experience and subsequent additional R&D. At this point, I suspect Cooper would have endorsed them as a durable option, but probably wouldn't have adopted them as a requisite component of his Scout Concept.
