Our Instagram Sunday Q&A is a weekly—or semiweekly depending on JV’s mood that day—chance for you to interact with our team directly. Ask whatever you like; insult us if you please; just don’t go crying about it when JV puts you in your place.
For those of you who are not completely inept, your answers will be swift and educational, leading you to knowledge akin to that of the ancient philosophers who helped drive our species from the Stone Age to modernity. That last part may not be true, but we sure as hell will give you our opinion and help you with whatever problems need solving.
We decided to post these Q&As here so those who had something better to do than look at Instagram on a Sunday afternoon or are dedicated to their craft and actually work Monday morning, can revel in the glory and enjoy some much-needed humor, quality product recommendations, and possible links to Schoby’s OnlyFans page.

Q: What is one of the best things any man should ever have done?
A: The sex.
Q: 30th birthday coming up. What should I get for myself?
A: Always prioritize experiences over material goods. Get on a plane and get out of your comfort zone.
Q: How did the upgrades come out on the Grenadier?
A: Very solid. Leitner Designs is top tier, as is Baja Designs. Kept it minimal since it’s basically set up as an extremely capable vehicle for the school drop-off line.
Q: What’s the long story on the scope ring switch?
A: It’s a short story. A good gunsmith needs to set up those rings after flying to Germany and taking a 300-hour course on the process. The Talley Rings are way more straightforward, and we’ve had success with them for decades.
Q: When is the new Jim Green x FE coming out?
A: Soon.
Q: Tried ALP Drifters yet?
A: ALP hasn’t sent them yet, but we’re more than happy with the standard offerings. We’ll try them soon.
Q: I know you’ve partnered with Taurus, have you tried their 10mm yet?
A: We have. It’s very solid. Taurus is crushing it these days.
Q: What’s the teams go-to carry-on suitcase?
A: Kuiu wheeled luggage.
Q: Any wine guys on staff? Could use some recs for USA vino.
A: We have a wine line in the works.
Q: 8-year-old bday gift? (Gun) he likes shooting whistle pigs with my Marlin 60 now.
A: CZ Scout .22 LR is such a cool rifle for a kid. Make him shoot with the irons for a while.
Q: How does FE reconcile the recent actions of POTUS while being so connected with his son?
A: They’re two separate things. Don is a friend, and he doesn’t write the tweets. Despite what some people think, Don is a very down to earth guy. He doesn’t hate liberals just for being liberal, he’s nice to everyone as long as they allow him to be, he has friends of every religion and social/economic standing. He’s just a good dude with a president as a dad.
Q: Is that Condition 1 case carry or checked size?
A: Very much a checked size that weighed 62 pounds.
Q: Is 47 going to get together so we can have cooler Toyotas?
A: We can certainly look past the tweets if he does.
Q: Preferred place to hunt hogs in South Texas?
A: It’s not South Texas but @hunt_fe_hill is our go-to spot for Texas swine.
Q: Thoughts on the M&P 2.0?
A: Very, very good.
Q: What optic do I need to put on this .376 Styer?
A: EOTech Vudu 1-10.
Q: What’s going on with the M&P 10mm collaboration?
A: These things take time. Even simple/small changes. We’re not re-inventing the wheel for you guys. We’re just setting it up to be the most corrosion resistant 10mm ever made for guides/hunters in coastal salt environments.
Q: What is your biggest area of struggle?
A: Grace.
Q: Best pellet gun for critter control?
A: Absolutely Air Force Airguns. So many critters sent to heaven with ours.
Q: What’s the team’s go to carry-on backpack?
A: No favorite because different packs work on different trips. Kuiu Divide is in the overhead right now and it’s very good.
Q: Just picked up a Tropical. Absolutely love it. When are holsters coming back in stock?
A: We have holsters on the way for the S&W x FE “Tropical.”
Q: I know the general FE rhetoric towards golf isn’t positive. Is the Masters an exception?
A: Absolutely not. It’s even worse.
Q: Just returned from my NWT Muskox hunt. Full mount? Or shoulder? Also, badass trip!
A: Always a full mount if you can afford to be stupid.
Q: Do I need buyer history at Gunderson’s to get a GMT Rolex?
A: To get one quickly, yes.
Q: Just picked up a pre-65 Model 70 in 30-06, keep the vintage glass or go modern?
A: Keep the vintage if it still works.
Q: Favorite book in the Bible and why?
A: Romans. A must read for any man.
Q: One country in Africa to hunt for rest of your life. What country?
A: Mozambique.
Q: Thoughts on the Vortex AMG 1-10?
A: Very cool optic.
